In response to all the criticism about the ending, I have to say that
that's true, but I'm not sure how I could have improved on it. Yes, reviving them all and pretty much resetting it is somewhat unrealistic, but *not* doing so I'd say makes a worse ending. If you just leave them dead, it's just like '... what now?'
I mean, if the more minor (and now dead) characters had been developed less, that'd be one thing, and it could go off in a sort of "there's a huge body count, but our heroes go off with their love story so we don't care about the rest of the carnage" ending, but with that much of the story 'belonging' to those characters, killing them all off seems a bit problematic.
It'd feel more like how the Gantz anime ended
where everyone ended up dead.
Regardless, I still have to say it's one of my favorites--probably not for deep analysis reasons, but I still like it.
