Default Re: Elfen Lied

I watched the anime because I promised a friend I would and after the first 5 minutes I was about to break the promise. However, I continued to watch it and at a point I realised that I wasn't watching it just for the sake of a promise anymore, but because I had really grown to like it.
There is a lot of blood, that's true, but it's the story that matters. Lucy is not a cold blooded series killer. I believe that Nyuu shows her true nature: she's caring, capable of feeling love and hates to see the people she loves sad (
- a cold blooded person wouldn't do such things).
The way people treated her transformed her into the "monster" everybody fears. I really believe the true monsters are those who experimented so much on her and made her go through so much pain (
really made me cry). She had to defend herself somehow. Yes, I know killing is not the answer, but she was just a child and had no one to teach her what’s right and what’s wrong. She had only one weapon against all those who tortured her... and, naturally, she used it. Besides, I don’t really think she likes killing people. She’s not the kind of killer who enjoys seeing people die. If she were, she would’ve killed the entire humanity in less than an episode.
I wanted her to end up with Kouta because, no matter how much death she caused, she truly loved him and it was her wish to apologise to him that made her endure everything.
She’s not evil. Her true feelings, her true self are not evil. She’s just what society turned her into.
