This series wasn't bad... I liked it at the beginning, but I just wanted it to end later in the series. Unfortunately, Soldats did not really help the situation with their release schedule, but anyway...
The series was so RPG-like that it actually helped me figure out stupid things to get special items in FFX (which was the first console RPG I ever played).
But as I said, I found it getting annoying later in the series, as Claude finds himself surrounded by 20-some people who probably wouldn't decide to breath without getting Claude's advice (again, very RPG-like). And it certainly didn't help that half way through the series I read the "Grand List of Console RPG Cliches" (I would have posted the link, but it appears to be dead now). The only question I really had was, just exactly how did they know they were doing damage without the numbers showing up on the screen?
As far as everything else goes, the visuals were okay, the audio was decent. Characters development was good; it even had some character growth take place. But I just thought it got annoying... kind of like the ridiculous tasks you have to do in some rpgs to get some super secret move/weapon/materia/whatever.
My rating: 4.5/10
