As ''explicit'' (exaggeration) as it was, that was important to some of the plot points, and especially so was the relationship itself.
This here in K is... plain old fanservice. Basically it's an unnecessary scene that's there just to appeal to fujoshi, as if it weren't enough that the whole show's designs are already designed around that same purpose.
