True, I guess we were just kinda stumped by the reveal. The fear we had was that Kishimoto was going to handle the execution poorly, but he's done it surprisingly well.
And really, I don't think we would be even remotely able to sympathize as much if it was some other fucking guy.

It just wouldn't work. "Tobi", whom we've been exposed to for so long, would essentially have just become a stranger to the audience. Just a random nobody.
So I guess our reactions were like whenever facebook changes their layout. Huge shitstorm, then everybody stops caring because it actually
works rather than being the destructive change everybody claimed it would be.
Of course, it could have been destructive if handled poorly, but Kishimoto has done really well.
And with the buildup we're seeing now, the Rin factor can become acceptable too.
The next chapter will probably be decisive in seeing if Kishimoto's handling of this will be successful.
