I know that manga threads don't generally get much of a rave response, but I felt compelled to post something about this one... partly because I'm on the edge of fangirling. XD
100% Perfect Girl Manga | Anime-Planet
Aside from being the first manga I ever opened, it's also the absolute standout - which might not look like it'd count for much, but I know what I like, and other series I've been reading have paled in comparison (which is unfortunate).
Firstly, the art is positively gorgeous. Wann obviously places a lot of heart into the detail and complexity of the characters and surroundings, and this beautifully underlines the delicately torturous emotions that feature as the strong, driving undercurrent to the story.
It's a non-stop ride, really. There is just enough breathing space between plot-events to keep the reader turning the pages raptly without 'breaking the camel's back' so to speak. I devoured this series very quickly, and I felt so wonderfully 'full' at the end - it was like a 100% Perfect 11-Course Meal of the sweetest and most delicately poised torment pages can hold.
I think it'll take something special to knock this off top-spot in my favourites.
I'll write a review at some point, so I won't go into a full dissection, but I'd like to open the lines of discussion for anyone else who might have read this. I'm curious to see what others have thought of this 11-volume rollercoaster...
Anyone? Bueller?
