Big fat lies. This out of character behaviour ruined the whole show. And here is why SINCE YOU WANT REASONS WHICH ARE SELFEXPLANATORY.

1) Kirino had a character rewrite for acting like that. If not, we were not shown his character justifying that, so it was lame storytelling. The same applies to the blue knight who for no reason cheated in order to survive the game (meaning he wanted to live) but chose to die at the first snag (meaning he didn't want to live).

2) Kirino lied so people will not keep accusing each other and go on trying to beat the game instead of PVPing each other. Thus he results to having to PVP them himself, resulting to killing who knows how many or dying himself. So an innocent guy will cause a lot of trouble and the real guilty players will get away with it.

3) Kirino is hated by everybody for being a beater. Nobody teams up with him, he goes solo on boss fights and gets killed or simply gets killed in some PVP by players who hate him. That can only mean he doesn't care about surviving the game. So you are watching a show about a hero who wants to die when the premise is about trying to survive the game.

4) Poor characterization for every character in this show.

5) Mediocre production values.

Ok, first, for the obvious: It's Kirito. Kirino is an annoying bitch from an entirely different show.

Secondly, holy jesus balls, you're making some wild assumptions about the series.

1) It's the second episode. We didn't really see what the guy was like overall, we all assumed he was going to be the wimpy stereotype, and oh thank god that's not how it's gone down. Why, exactly, is that lame storytelling when we're still only getting our feet wet here?

Blue leader wanted the last hit to himself to get the bonus item from the boss. That's not cheating, but it is certainly exploitative. Upon his last dying moments, he's stricken with guilt, which was probably there anyways, and refuses to go on. A little melodramatic? Probably. But nothing egregiously series breaking about it.

2 and 3) Has there even been anything said about PVP in the series? No? Yeah, that's what I thought. We've seen or heard nothing of players attacking each other, and yet you're so specifically focusing on an aspect of something we don't even know exists.

Yeah, it looks like Kirito was willing to make himself be the bad guy. Did he do that because he thought it was an easier way to go about things? Is he actually just a huge jackass? We haven't the slightest goddamn clue. Once again, you're making huge leaps and bounds in assumptions. Reel back a little there, cowboy.

4) Says the person with ridiculous notions of what "characterization" is, but fine, your opinion.

5) Who gives a fuck, not every anime has to have mind blowing visuals.
