Hokuto no Ken is far from marvelous, I'd say. European countries have a problem with violence in movies/shows/cartoons/anime in general. I'm from Germany and I clearly remember how Dragonball Z was heavily cut when it first aired here about 10 years ago.
We bought the French version (which was already cut) and the TV channel who aired DBZ over here edited it even further. Same with Naruto, where the blood was erased and the German dub replaced sentences like "I'll kill you!" with "I'll beat you!". This was mainly due to these shows being broadcasted in the afternoon and anime was still considered kid's stuff for the most part back then.
