Default enough to begin learning Japanese?

first i will start with honesty. I tried learning japanese about 2 years back but gave up not long after starting, anyways i recently returned to japanese, i started with buying Rosetta stone, i know this program has the odd error here and there but its a good way to start as its spoken, reading and typing but its more interesting being visualed on screen.
Anyway with xmas approaching, i figured i would ensure i learn, so i requested everyone got me some text books and study guides, now i got alot of book for xmas time (and some more causal ones which teach words you will use what books dont teach, like rude words and jokes but i got around 12-16 differant text books, study guides, refferance books and all of the sort, i figured getting em as presents like this will make me not want em to go to waste and seeing alot of money piled into em i will be more than egar to study and make sure there not a waste.
Do you think this is a effective or am i missing something. I gots the learner CD's aswell (forgot them), basically i stacked all i can into this
Now i think the most important thing is motivation which is one thing im hoping i will have this time round, i know basics what anyone and everyone know about the language already anyways so the smooth stat should help.
Is there anything much else im missing or do you think this is a good way to go about learning?
Im aware it takes time to learn a new language but hey i got years, i dont expect a 1month cram session to learn me, im thinking 2 years for the main basis and being able to understand simple ways to live on, and 3 years for more intermediate levels and hoping in 5-6 years i can call my self a high level student ^^
Next summer i am visiting japan for a holiday so im hoping i can not only test myself but learn more whilst there, i know lots said you learn better surrouned by what your learning, so being surrounded by japanese speakers might help ^^
I dont intend to learn for anime honestly, anime was just something which came in time, i loved japan sinse i was a kid and love there cultures.
