In my opinion, Hachiman should've picked Yui...
Yui really is a sweet girl who was 'experiencing romance' for the first time. That's what she was saying inwardly while crying in her mother's arms.
Even Yui did not understand her motivations as clearly as she thought she did. She described herself as 'not a nice person', that she was 'greedy', and that she 'wanted it all'. But truthfully, she was none of those things. Proof? Although she thought she could embolden herself to become Yukino's rival for Hikigaya, her deep love for Yukino did not allow her to do so. Losing at love to Yukino was not worth losing Yukino as a close potentially lifelong friend. 'Experiencing romance' for the first time was brand new --- just like it is for anyone who's ever come to that fork in the road. It's painful and confusing and difficult because everything will change from that point on. It's part of something we have no control over : growing up.
[ By comparison, remember how Yokimo burst into the club room, guns blazing, because she wanted to get to the bottom of the rumor that Yukino and Hayama were secretly dating or had done so in the past? Yui never had the heart to do something so catastrophic. ]
Yui's gift is her ability to "read the room". [ She got that ability from her mom, who was right there to comfort Yui when she came through the door with a broken heart. ] She's empathetic. She may experience hurt or deep disappointment herself. But she would never deliberately crush someone she loves.
True, Yui Yuigahama was not going to "win". But she was a well-written character, and she brought an instant warmth to the story.

She's as normie as it gets. She can get with anybody from class. Hachiman and Yukinon though...

Not debating who deserved Hachiman better because love is not an auction nor something that can be calculated by time and effort, yet I'm still very sad because she just tried so hard to keep everything together and I'm really sory she kept on pushing her feelings aside till the end, on the other hand I really admire how she didn't give up to her selfish side and after losing to Yukino she still cared about their friendship more than her crush
