Even though people may compare Senji to Kenpachi from Bleach, I think Senji came out being the better of the two. And its because Kubo kept dragging Kenpachi's character through the mud the longer Bleach ran. Whereas Senji was going through development during the story of DMWL, being like a teacher/father figure to Ganta. He knows he's not perfect, but the struggle is there with the character. So overall, he's probably one of the major reasons why I still love the DMWL series.

He's one of the best-written "badass" characters.
And no, I wouldn't compare him to Zaraki. Because Senji has a better personality and a lot more depth of character.
