Nagisa FURUKAWA main image

Soft-spoken and selfless, Nagisa is the daughter of the local baker and his wife. Although her family-life is idyllic, she has next to no friends at school after being held back a year due to health complications. Much of her time is spent strengthening her relationships with her newly-formed friends, or trying to reinstate the drama club. She has an affinity for the "Dango Daikazoku" (the Big Dango Family).

Why do these anime characters have their eyebrows in front of their hair?

I love Nagisa Furukawa. She is my favorite anime character ever! She is an angel! So sweet and look how cute she is. She couldn't hurt a fly, and she genuinely cares for each of the clannad characters. I do think she is a bit modest when it comes to a relationship with Tomoya, but that's just the way Clannad is. It's a love story with not a lot of touchy-feely moments. I personally just really like her.

Why is she so popular and contraversial? There's nothing good or bad about her. She's a boring character, a plot device and has an annoying voice but she's kind and motherly. I do not care for her but I wonder why she's either loved or hated. Why can't I meet more people with my opinion?

Why do so many people 'hate' Nagisa? I think the reason is due to the fact that she is the most believable and fully developed character in comparison to the other girls. Her personality is humble and down-to-earth, compared to less-developed and more-2 dimensional girls, like the hot-headed Kyou or the stoic and impossibly badass Tomoyo. In that respect, she is not the typical fantasy waifu desired by fans looking for escapism. The fact that she comes out on top in the harem is likely a large point of annoyance for these viewers, as she represents the character traits (compassion, loyalty, selflessness) that makes it difficult for them to empathize with the character. In that respect, Nagisa is one of the best examples of great character development, and a character that stands out for being believable.
