you don't have to think light was right to like him. he's a fictional character - if he were real that'd be a different story.
i don't necessarily agree with him. he's undoubtedly a corrupted individual. but i love death note. it was light who drove the plot of it, without a corrupt, narcissistic protagonist like light none of the story would have happened.
i think he has this many loves, not because everyone thinks he was right, but because he's interesting to watch. i do enjoy watching a character use their own wits to turn even a seemingly impossible situation in their favour, and light showcased this well.
I don't know how Light's one of the most loved character here. He was literallly blinded by greed and power, and was suffering by some terrible god complex. I just can't understand that some people can justify his actions and say that it was for the better good. Really happy that he died in the end, hated him from the start to end. ಠ╭╮ಠ
We can't deny that Light is really strategic and clever, but are his ways morally and ethically right?
I must be weird because I loved Light's character. I think it's really stupid to dislike a character simply because they were technically evil.
He isn't a dumb character, he is a psychopathic character with a god-complex. And this nature of his only emerged/awakened after he got the death note. That is actually a really realistic thing to happen. Ordinary humans who gain a lot of power, tend to misuse it.
This is common in many things, such as, winning a fortune. Most literally fu***** waste all that cash on dumb sh**! But from this, I hope you can put 2 and 2 together and deduce that Light's actions after finding the death note, were actually really freaking, well, normal, as crazy as it sounds.
So, I think that his human nature was very well depicted in this anime. It does get a little bit more ridiculous later on, but at that point it's just preference.
I think the anime succeeded amazingly at achieving what it wanted to achieve.
If I were to personify this anime, it would be like that one kid who came to school in a full-covered Minecraft creeper outfit. The kid's getting bullied for being different or trying to do something without informing literally everyone of what his intentions are.
