Akiyuki lives on post-war Sentan Island, always rushing between the demands of his separated parents and his friends at school. But his carefree days come abruptly to an end when his school bus suffers an explosion, the first attack to plunge Sentan back into war. Akiyuki lives to find himself turned into a Xam'd, a mysterious creature, by the suspected cause of the explosion. Engulfed by Xam'd, Akiyuki is eventually saved by a red-haired girl, Nakiami, only to find himself torn away from those he loves. Now he must work to control and understand the creature within him, all while searching for his family and friends in a world steeped in the secrets and chaos of war.
Both Towa no Quon and Bounen no Xamdou share the same Anime style and both gave me a very similar feeling when watching them. Both contain humans mutating in to stylish looking creatures with super powers and both contain awesome battle scenes. I think anyone who liked one will like the other.
Suzuki Aesop is a half-breed Japanese, the son of an American military officer. When his radical anti-American friends get into trouble, he finds himself running from the American MPs. Suddenly, a massive battleship appears out of the sea, flying into the air, before Aesop's disbelieving eyes. The ship comes from the 'underworld' of Byston Well, and aboard it is Princess Ryukus, who carries with her the magical winged boots, the Wings of Rean; and they are meant for Aesop...
Both series have princesses, weird biotech, lots of flying, and aired on the internet. More importantly, Rean and Xamd throw you headlong into the middle of a war. The disorientation is exhilarating.
