Tokyo Babylon

Tokyo Babylon

Subaru Sumeragi is a descendant of an ancient clan who wields immense powers of the yin-yang. Because of his supernatural abilities, he doubles as an investigator for paranormal crimes and situations in Tokyo. With his twin sister Hokuto and comrade Seishirou Sakarazuka at his side, Subaru soon becomes involved in two cases which may cost him his life!

Tokyo Babylon stands as a loose prequel to both X The Movie (and X TV), following two characters Subaru and Seishirou in their "early" years. Both movies feel disjointed and almost hurried, like watching on fast-forward. On the upside, Tokyo Babylon has fewer characters resulting in stronger character development. Where Tokyo Babylon uses supernatural powers to solve crimes, these powers are further flushed out on an apocalyptic stage in X. Both shows explore the power of friendship and depth of loyalty in a somber and somewhat tragic fashion. The foundation is laid in Tokyo Babylon for a deeper understanding of the characters as presented in X, which can lead to a greater emotional impact. I would recommend this movie if only for the background information gathering.

Witch Hunter Robin

Witch Hunter Robin

STN is a secret organization charged with capturing witches of all ages who misuse their inate ability of the Craft. Its newest recruit is a young girl named Robin, who wields the same power that she is helping to control. While skillful at their ability to detain quickly, the number of witches keeps seeming to increase, and the misuse of power grows stronger, casting a shadow of doubt as to what is really going on. For STN, there is much work ahead, and for Robin, her troubles are just beginning...

Both X TV and Witch Hunter Robin are dark and gloomy with a deep story base. Very good shows
