In the near future, the human world exists parallel to a parallel world of demons and dark magic. The two have long abided by an uneasy peace treaty, but its time is almost up, and a new one has to be negotiated. Now, two agents--a top human agent and a beautiful assassin from the other world--must protect the only man who can seal the treaty from dark world renegades or die trying!
These are both well animated 90s style anime with tons of action and gore. They are both horror stories even if the plots are very different. They both have that early 90s feeling of schlock titles that OVAs and movies had at that time. They are ultra violent with sex, nudity and a general trashy feeling to them.
Doomed Megalopolis has a much more convoluted and silly plot because it's longer than Wicked City, but otherwise they are very similar in tone and general atmosphere.
In present day England, a war is being fought. The average citizen does not notice, but vampires are running rampant among the populace, and it's up to the Hellsing organization to contain the bloodsucker threat, using even their own weapons against them. Alucard, a vampire himself, is the best agent the organization has to offer, answering only to Integra Hellsing herself. No one knows much about this mysterious figure fighting against the occult, but things starts to change after he “recruits” a new agent to the establishment...
Both animes are about people who fight deamons. They encounter a lot of obstacles but finally the make everything up as it should be. Both contain mainly fight scenes. For me personaly the biggest similarity would be the fighting style of a waiter from Hellsing and hotel ownerfrom Wicked City. If you like shows about demon fighters you'll surely like what I recommend.
Rin is a private investigator with an advantage: near immortality. Thanks to the spores of the Yggdrasill tree, both she and her assistant Mimi have lived many years longer than the average person. That isn’t to say that being immortal doesn't have its problems. With 'angels' wanting to devour them, the being Apos sending wave after wave of professional assassins to kill them, and constant hangovers from long nights of drinking, being immortal still has its downsides. With Apos' attempts at removing them from the picture increasing, can Rin and Mimi figure out what he is after so they can return to their morning shots of Vodka?
"Rin, Daughters of Mnemosyne" has a lot of similar aspects you'll find in Wicked City. For one, if you like the super violence and gore of Wicked City then you'll find plenty of that in Mnemosyne. Much like Wicked City you'll also find plenty of nudity and sexualisation of the main characters in Mnemosyne, but never without reason or to a point where you feel it's too much. Animation for both the action and characters of Mnemosyne is pretty damn good as well. Other thing you'll like is that Mnemosyne can be found easily in both English dub and it's normal Japanese with subtitles. With 6 episodes clocking in at about 45 min. each, Mnemosyne is sure to to scratch that itch that is left if you find yourself liking Wicked City.
At Count D's pet shop, you can acquire any form of animal, from an ordinary canary, to more.. "exotic" creatures. Made to sign a contract before purchase, Count D claims no "responsibility for actions incurred" if the purchaser does not follow its instructions completely, as results can be fatal. Patrons of this shop are able to get the rarest of creatures, but often, their purchases are coupled with demons from their past that won't go away easily.
Wicked city has about the same style of 90's anime and both are twisted in a way. Both of these animes are horror based. Pet shop of horrors offers the same amount of mutations as Wicked City does. I think you will enjoy it.
In the dystopic city of Freeport, a strike force known as HARDCORPS, led by John Blade, puts a stop to endless crime. However, recently a number of mutants have been witnessed across the globe, tearing down anyone who stands in their way; and SinTEK, led by the vengeful Elexis Sinclaire, seems to be connected. In the midst of the bloodshed, Blade must discover the truth behind SinTEK's sinister plan, and save a mysterious girl named Elyse in the process...
Weird creatures (demonic in Wicked City, mutants in Sin) with strange powers running amok. A ragtag group of hardasses trying to maintain order. With a healthy dose of gratuitous nudity. Both are heavy on action and light on plot, with plenty of blood being splattered and brutal deaths in spades.
