Cross Academy is a school with a difference: in a unique and experimental setup designed by the headmaster, it has a Day Class consisting of ordinary humans and a Night Class filled with vampires. Yuki Cross and her friend Zero Kiryu are school prefects whose job it is to make sure the secret of the Night Class is always safe; they patrol the school grounds at night and supervise the switchover of classes at dawn and dusk to prevent any 'accidents' from happening. While Zero is suspicious of vampires and hates the idea of sharing the same space as them, Yuki admires the Night Class for their beauty and sophistication; she is especially intrigued by their charming leader, Kaname, because he once saved her life. However, as Yuki quickly learns, not all vampires are amiable like the Night Class, and as terrible events unfold, Yuki must ask herself whether in a world where vampires are the hunters and humans are the prey, peaceful coexistence can really be achieved.
Both of these series are rooted in the myth of the Vampire, but the similarities don't end there. Both series are action packed yet leave room for a romance side plot. If you liked either of these series you should have no problem watching the other.
If you wanted more romance from Dance in the Vampire Bund, Vampire Knight is more oriented to that genre. On the other hand, if action what you yearn for, Dance in the Vampire Bund is definitely the more intense of the two.
I agree with Rocketbean. Dance is like a hyped up more actiony version of Vampire Knight in a lot of ways which is good because it was kind of slow. >_> They both have mystery in their plots, deal with Vampires in a caste system and have sexual tensions as a plot vice between characters. Dance is a more enjoyable from a masculine perspective while Vampire Knight was very girl-friendly but I think they're both enjoyable if you let their plots run their course.Dance has more action and deeper/faster story to keep you more interested and some ecchi for those that enjoy it (I like a fair share) but also has some romance side-plots going on that the ladies seem to enjoy.
Action packed vampires at school?!?! Dance in the Vampire Bund and Vampire Knights include all of these features wrapped up in tales of romance and tragedy, love and happiness of the characters involved. Even though Vampire Knights steers more towards the taste of girls and Dance in the Vampire Bund is more for boys, each series is equally enjoyable to see.
The most striking similarity between the series is, of course, the prevalence of Vampires. Both animes are heavily concerned with the heirarchy of vampire societies and their dealings with humans. Mina Tepes, similar to Headmaster Kaien Cross, wishes to establish an area in which vampires can live peacefully, and coexist to an extent with humans instead of hunting them for blood. In the end, both series are action packed dramas with romance and politics mixed perfectly into the plot, making them excellent animes and certainly a delight to watch.
Vampire Knight and Dance in the Vampire Bund have many things in common, both are based on the legend, myths regarding vampires, both of them are action packed and filled with suspense and horror and they both feature a nice romance and wonderful romance aspect. Dance in the Vampire Bund feature more action than Vampire Knight which is more romance orientated but even so if you liked one check the other one as well.
Even though Dance in the Vampire Bund has a much more mature story to it and a lot less love-triangle headaches, the two are quite similar.A main character that can't quite remember their past, a dark theme throughout the serie and ofcourse, vampires. Even though DitVB handles the Vampire genre a bit more mature than VK, they're both two excellent Vampire animes and a great addition to your "watched" list.
Tohru Honda is a compassionate girl who is down on her luck. Her mother having recently died, she has been forced to camp out in the woods for shelter. However, things start to turn around once she is invited to live with class hunk Yuki Sohma and his family... but all is not as it seems! Yuki's family is burdened with a dark curse which causes them to turn into the animals of the Chinese zodiac once hugged by a member of the opposite sex... and Honda may be the only one who can help them.
The female charactors in both these have a traggic past but still put up a brave front and dont let it get them down or stop them moveing forward in life, both also have the desire to be of some use and help to those around them. Both also contain a good balance of comedy romance and drama.
The plot of both series are quite different, but in both series, the female lead is liked by two boys. The female lead whats both of them to get along but the two boys don't get along well even if the situation has nothining to do with the female lead. In both, the boys try to get along for the female leads sake, but they have issues against the other that are hard to overcome. Aside from this, both female leads are also shown to have a tragic past, but it only encourages them to view things in a more positive way.
The whole time I was watching this anime, I kept thinking about how Yuuki resembed Tohru, in almost everyway.
The stories are completely different in almost every single way, however the characters and how they respond to situations are very similar. I thought Yuuki (her voice, her thoughts, attitude) was completely identical to Tohru. Even though the genres of both anime are different, you can tell that both girls are always looking out for everyone's best interest at heart. They both have this "good" girl-like appearence written for them, and if you enjoyed one protaganist, you'll definitely love the other.
In both series there is the story of an outcast, who fits in at neither 'side', who is having troubles with himself and that of a good girl with her own past trying to help him at all costs. There is also the cool, mysterious guy including fangirls and many other characters that are comparable. In the plot, one can also see similarities in the fact that there's a group that must remain a secret to all of the outside world.
Both stories are entangled with mystery and love. There is a darkness that lurks in the shadows but in the end what makes the difference is love.
Even though Vampire Knight may be a bit more mature than Fruits Basket, they are both a drama with a dramatic love story.
Throughout the ages, fairy doctors served as liaisons between humans and fairies; but in the present time of the 19th century, fairies are nothing more than an old wives' tale. Nineteen-year-old Lydia Carlton is one of the only remaining fairy doctors and enjoys a quiet life in the countryside of England - that is, until the dashing Edgar, for mysterious reasons, whisks her away on a daring adventure. Said to be the descendent of the earl of the fairy nation, Edgar desires the noble sword of the merrow that serves as proof to his lineage. Though his motives and origins are questionable, Lydia now sets forth to help Edgar on his quest.
To me the animation styles are very similar. They both deal with noblity and a somewhat reluctanct romance. Both have supernatural themes as well.
If you have a penchant for beautiful bishounen and hapless female leads, then both Earl and Fairy and Vampire Knight will be for you. The two storylines are based in the supernatural, however the main focus is on the romance between the male and female leads.
If you dream about being swept off your feet by a handsome rogue, I highly recommend both of these shows to you.
If you enjoy it when Folklore comes to life then you will appreciate Earl and Fairy as much as vampire knight. Earl and fairy deals with fairies and the fairy world instead of vampires, but also focuses on the romance between the very likeable characters which are surrounded in mystery, similar to Zero and Kaname in vampire knight.
The romance aspect is done well, just like vampire knight, there is more than one love interest, a man from the fairy world, and the Earl himself. The main character continually wonders who she can trust, or if she can trust anyone, just as Yuuki is constantly unsure of her love interests.
Though not as action-filled or intense, Earl and Fairy has a great story, a few really awesome action scenes, similar animation style to vampire knight, and of course a lovely romance that happens while a wonderful story unfolds. If you love vampire knight you will love Earl and Fairy, their similarities are endless.
both shows feature a dark, gloomy atmosphere and deal with a supernatural theme as well however both shows mostly focus on a romance aspect which makes them both quite alike. The female leads, Lydia and Yuuki are pretty much alike too, both of them have similar characteristics and similar personalities, being wanted by the men around them. Both shows also feature a similar animation style and are action packed so if you liked one be sure to check the other one as well.
For some reason the first thing that struck me between Vampire Knight and the series Earl and Fairy is the hierarchy structure set for the for the characters and the aristocracy that it revolves around making some of the characters arrogant to the extreme. The supernatural ties of the series brings out the historical feeling in the characters and similar animation styles.
Ouran High is a school for the extremely wealthy or, in Haruhi's case, the extremely talented. But no amount of talent will help when Haruhi accidentally drops an eight million yen vase in a music room. The vase was the property of Ouran High School Host Club, a group of attractive young men who, for a fee, provide their time and affections for their lovesick clientele: the female students. Fascinated by this strange new specimen, a poor and clumsy commoner, they force Haruhi to work for them until the debt is repaid; but they get a lot more than they bargained for...
you will like this anime because of the story and the characters as well. like vampire knight, both girls of the anime are being chased by the handsome boys.
If you enjoyed the charactors and comedy in Vampire Knight then you should try watching Ouran High. Though both obviously have completely different story lines, there are some small similarities in the female charactors and the humor.
Both Anime's have a bunch of hot guys running around.
Its like girl fan service really.
If you like one you'd most likely like the other
Ouran High School Host Club and Vampire Knight are both fun animes that take place in a different kind of high school setting. Rather than regular run-of-the-mills high school, these animes aim to add a little bit of spice to their setting - whether it be through super hot vampire students or super hot host club students. If you liked one, be sure to check out the other.
They both have romance and killer guys, besides Tamaki and Zero have the same voice actor!:)
While Vampire Knight is a little more on the harsh side, it's still mostly romance, either way all the characters have a way at pulling at your heart strings and let's just say that the Night class and the hosts? Are treated very similar:)
There is a legend of an angel who fell to Earth many years ago, and was forced to marry a man because he held the key to her only way home. Hundreds of years later, sixteen year old Mikage Aya is the reincarnation of Ceres, the vengeful angel, who must now fight for her life against her family and her own twin brother Aki, the reincarnation of her past evil husband...
Both these series have an incredible amount of suspense and horror. Like Vampire Knight, Ceres has an interesting plot and a love story that will make you beg for more. All characters in Ceres have strange and amazing backgrounds behind them. The same happens with vampire knight.
If you loved this one, you'll adore Ceres.
Both are intense drama shoujo with 2 bishies loving and protecting 1 strong but lost girl. Both girls love their brother and best friend. Both anime bishies fight well and slaughter many to shield the girl from viscious killers. VK girl a vampire within vs ANC girl an angel within. VK story addicting and thrilling vs ANC story engaging and moving. Must watch for bishies in shoujo fans!
when i think about Ayashi no Ceres and Vampire Knight i can only think about two things, suspense and horror aspects. Both of them have though-provoking, interesting, intriguing plot lines that will make you grab the screen until it ends, imploring for more. Both shows feature interesting characters so if you liked one be sure to check the other one as well.
Vampire Knight and Ayashi no Ceres both involve intense love triangles with both males intensely caring about the heroine. Aya and Yuki are both strong willed leaders that have a mission ahead of them that they have to complete. The stories are enthralling and fairytale like.
