Unico is a special unicorn with the ability to make anyone he meets happy. But the gods are not pleased, and out of jealousy, they bid the West Wind to exile young Unico to the Hill of Oblivion, where he shall stay, alone, forever. Luckily, the West Wind is a kind soul and instead, hides Unico away from place to place, keeping him shielded from the eyes of the gods. Along the way, Unico must make new friends and even save the world from an evil power!
If your a product of the 80's like me, you may have seen anime in the rare form of VHS tapes with bad dubs in bargin bins.
The Adventures of Scamper the Penguin was one of these titles. We are talking a fantastically flat acted dub, and a biology lesson on Penguins and various stories on Scamper who gets in trouble all the time.
Unico's dub was much better and I think It might have been a more assertive effort in licensing
Now this recommendation is if your looking for some harmless family fun about a young animal, (well unicorn in Unico) who has some adventures only a 7 year old would appreciate, then Try Unico, or if seen Unico, try Scamper.
Both are realitivily easy to find on you tube, I do not think there is much of a license on either.
Be mindful that Scamper does not look very anime. In fact it looks sort of like a disney knock off. I honestly did not know it was anime till I saw it on Anime Planet.
Both anime are based on characters created by Tezuka. They both have a somewhat simular feel. Also, the character of Leo reminds me of the character of Unico. I think that you like one, then you will probably like the other.
Marina and Unico are both anime, whose titular characters are mythical beings, a mermaid in Marina and a unicorn in Unico. Family-friendly and adventure-filled, these titles are also somewht dated. If you liked the magical happenstances in one of them, try the other one too.
When the loveable Perro was banished from the kingdom of cats (for the treacherous crime of saving a mouse!), his wanderings led him to the house of Pierre, a young lad who was mistreated by his greedy brothers. Thrown out in the cold, the duo then traveled to a great kingdom where they laid eyes on the princess Rosa, who soon would be wed to a wealthy suitor. Who best to marry her but ... the son of a poor farmer?! With Perro's help, Pierre might just stand a chance -- that is, if he can fool the royal family and defeat the evil Lucifer, who wants Rosa all for himself!
If you are a kid at heart and like watching fun loving animals, Puss in Boots and Unico are the shows to see. The characters develop interesting relationships with some humans along the way.
Fire Children and the Children of the Water can never be together. Long ago, the God of Water and Goddess of Fire existed together as one entity, until the jealousy of the God of Wind drove a wedge into their relationship. They separated, and it became the law of the earth that their people must never see each other again. Now that the new heirs to the thrones are soon to be crowned, the Prince of the Sea is drawn to the ocean’s surface and meets the beautiful maiden that is the Princess of Fire. A fantastic love is formed between the two, but the flavor is bittersweet when all they can do is hide the fact that they have met. Love is powerful, but is theirs strong enough to withstand the will of the Gods?
