Pet Shop of Horrors

Pet Shop of Horrors

At Count D's pet shop, you can acquire any form of animal, from an ordinary canary, to more.. "exotic" creatures. Made to sign a contract before purchase, Count D claims no "responsibility for actions incurred" if the purchaser does not follow its instructions completely, as results can be fatal. Patrons of this shop are able to get the rarest of creatures, but often, their purchases are coupled with demons from their past that won't go away easily.

Somehow the cool, calculating Tsunami reminds me of Count D. If horror is your thing and you are looking for something new, try out Pet Shop of Horrors.

Vampire Wars and Twilight of the Dark Master both are very, very gritty, both feel fairly incomplete and both are full of interesting monsters. I felt the same way after feeling both of these, and the moods are quite similar. Try it on for size.

Wicked City

Wicked City
  • Movie (1 ep x 82 min)
  • 1987

In the near future, the human world exists parallel to a parallel world of demons and dark magic. The two have long abided by an uneasy peace treaty, but its time is almost up, and a new one has to be negotiated. Now, two agents--a top human agent and a beautiful assassin from the other world--must protect the only man who can seal the treaty from dark world renegades or die trying!

Both Twilight of the Dark Master and Wicked City feature well done action involving demons and have that old school gorey sexual anime style.

X: The Movie

The character designs and animation of these two titles are incredibly similar - the lanky males, the pervasively dark view of the world... and, as manga adaptions rammed into a short space of time, either anime winds up as a pretty confusing mess.

But when it comes down to it I frankly found X a far more watchable title then Twilight of the Dark Master. If you want something that looks similar, makes just as little sense, but is a marginally more satisfying watch (granted, without the blood and sex of this title), consider checking the X film out.
