Trinity Blood and Blood+ both give off a kind of boring vibe, with lots of talking and development between the characters. However, when they get to a part with action, they both surpass all expectations, making the boring parts worth it.
Both are action-packed, vampire themed - but with a more serious tone to them (vs cutesy or love themed vampire series)
In the revolutionary Meiji period, Japan is undergoing enormous political change. It is a time when vagabonds and terrorists will use any method to prevent the modernization of their country, even if it means trampling on the innocent in the process. In such a time, Himura Kenshin, a wandering samurai, has dedicated his life to protecting the weak and desperate peasants from those who would oppress them. However, Kenshin has a dark past which threatens to destroy the values he is fighting for. When he meets his new friends Kaoru, Sanosuke, and Yahiko, and tries to build a peaceful life with them, events conspire against him. Can Kenshin overcome the demons within and without, and finally ensure the peaceful future that Japan deserves?
Rurouni Kenshin and Trinity Blood both have main characters that are very kind hearted and do not want to hurt anyone. However, deep inside these characters there lies a killer that they try to hide, yet is always encountered.
What really strikes me as similar between the two action series is not the central plot but rather the central protagonist. Both will avoid harming others often at the risk of their own lives due to the fear of their greater power and the man they become when they must use it. However the beauty as a viewer is watching this inner-turmoil they strive to come to terms with, evident when paired with the desire to protect others and then the inevitable released form of their true strength at a greater risk to themselves than the ones they fight

While skillful at their ability to detain quickly, the number of witches keeps seeming to increase, and the misuse of power grows stronger, casting a shadow of doubt as to what is really going on. For STN, there is much work ahead, and for Robin, her troubles are just beginning...
Trinity blood and WHR are very similar. Both are about an individual fighting his/her own kind for the sake of mankind. Both seem to be episodic or monster-of-the day kind of series but eventually both unfold a story. And finally, in both series the enemy, that is so obvious in the beggining is not so obvious in the end.
Both Trinity Blood and Witch Hunter Robin follows members of a team that seeks to protect ordinary humans from dangerous beings. Add a few secrets, a scheme or two, and you'll see their similarities.
Teito Klein is a former slave who attends the Barsburg Empire's military academy. Having no memory of his past and the power to wield a rare ability called Zaiphon, Teito is constantly under the scrutiny of his peers - except for his best friend Mikage, the only person he connects with. After seeing and remembering the man who killed his father, Teito tries to kill him and finds himself on the run from Barsburg's military might. Now, with the evil beings known as Kor after his soul, the Barsburg Empire after his blood and only the legendary Seven Ghosts to protect him, Teito must unlock the memories of his past before he ends up as a sacrifice for Verloren, the sealed God of Death.
Both of these anime revolve around the struggle between light and dark, and take place mainly in a cathedral setting. With some beautiful animation and intriguing character interaction, the animes are very enjoyable. Also, both animes have the introduction of ancient, mystical powers that tend to be the central point of the plot.
An akuma is a soul which has been brought back to life through sadness and despair with the powers of Millenium Earl. Their mission is to terrorize the earth and all who dwell within it. In both Trinity Blood and D.Gray-man, the protagonists are desperate to protect innocent people against sorrow and death, caused by monsters in both human and unhuman forms. In order to do this, they keep trying to become stronger, using their own pain to move forward, but soon realize that they are not alone. They have friends that care about them and fight by their side, and together they can defeat the darkness and protect souls against the pain of losing a loved one!
