There are no such absolutely unrivalled and invincible heroes in Hunter x Hunter as we see in Trigun, but the show still bears some striking similarities in both style and mood. The main hero, Gon Freecks, looks exactly like chibi Vash except for his dark green hair, and there are some other character designs being borrowed as well (e.g., Genei Ryodan's Franklin).

In general, HxH has a strong character development theme that Trigun lacks, but otherwise it explores and advocates the same kind of moral ideals.

Your stories center around your hero/heroin that share so many features. They refuse to kill in order to save the people they are protecting. They feel as if they must repent for past deeds that was out of their control.

The plots are well thought out, and the music is very adequate to the mood the stories have to tell.

These two animes protagonists resemble eachother in the fact that they both have two personalities.  One that kills unrelentlessly, and one that's harmless.  Many things also resemble eachother, like the artwork.  If you like one, you will surely like the other.

Humour, action, just plain coolness, an intrusive soundtrack and, past the jokes and bullets, something of a heart - if you liked Trigun for that reason, it's quite possible you'll enjoy Michiko to Hatchin. Michiko has some difficulties in the story setup (while I feel Trigun only really got going as the story was peeled away), but otherwise it's quite a rewarding watch.

Gintama

Gintama

In Gintoki's Japan, the arrival of the various space races known collectively as the Amanto ended the era of the samurai. The Amanto's highly advanced technology resulted in total conquest and a severe economic shift. Now, former samurai such as Gintoki scrape together whatever livelihood they can. Gintoki's profession of choice is that of a yorozuya: he'll complete any job for money. However, he’s unmotivated; and spending most of the day on the couch with the latest issue of Jump and a carton of Strawberry Milk is his preferred pastime. It turns out that his new unpaid employees, Shinpachi and Kagura, are going to interfere with his pastime even more than with his "work"! Of course, none of this means he has really given up on his samurai ideologies!

Trigun and Gintama are rather different kinds of anime. Whilst Gintama focuses on the humor aspect, Trigun is more mixed between humor drama and action. But the main reason I recommend watching Trigun if you liked gintama is beacuse the main characters are rather alike, in my oppinion. Both are lazy and goofy on the outside while they have a fierce tiger and a romantic personality inside.

City Hunter: Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba

City Hunter: Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba

The City Hunter Ryo Saeba has been without customers for four months, so his partner Kaori is understandably overjoyed when a customer finally contacts them. As the customer happens to be the striking Mega City TV newscaster Sayaka, Ryo has trouble containing his excitement too. But while it seems not even Kaori's wrath can dissuade Ryo from his lecherous antics, things take a more serious turn when they have to escape a seemingly endless stream of hired killers who come after them. And when Sayaka's employers set Ryo up as a kidnapper and killer, Ryo has no choice but to get to the bottom of this weird case!

Both this movie and Trigun have a number of similarities. The most obvious and most important similarity occurs between Ryo and Vash. Particularly, City Hunter: Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba reminds me of the bodyguard episode near the start of the Trigun series. Ryo and Vash seem to be women chasers and somewhat childlike, but when the chips are down they are at the top of their game.

Basically if you liked this movie, you should give Trigun a shot. Conversely, if you liked Trigun (and specifically the bodyguard episode) you should definately check out the City Hunter: Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba
