On their journey Jil and the others pass a signboard indicating a shortcut. But the "shortcut" turns out to be a series of different traps that hinder their efforts to go forward. While one of the traps causes their gender to switch, the other forces them to wear animal costumes. Subsequently they arrive at the final gate. But getting through that exit door turns out to be harder they had ever imagined!

While both being situated in an RPG (RPG-like at least in Tower of Druaga) based story, the enjoyment I felt in both series are almost the same. It is just that former is more comedy inclined while the latter is more into the story/theme.
'Sword Art Online' reminds me of the older series 'Tower of Druaga' in that they both have plots that involve towers and are based on video games.
Although 'Tower of Druaga' is based on an 80's series of arcade games and 'Sword Art Online' on a near-future VR MMO, they both have great settings and a sense of peril and comradery as the characters attempt to ascend the towers and to defeat the highest level.
If you have not seen one or the other I would recommend both.
SAO and TOD are similar in a few things. They both are based on videogames (SAO futuristic videogame, TOD is actually an 80s videogame), they both have swordplay and magic, they both have epic battles and they're both good anime.
They have romance in between battles and I really liked both. Your emotions will have a party in your head.
I do think that TOD's first episode is by far one of the funniest and SAO first episode makes you wanna keep watching it. I recommend both. If you like one, you'll like the other.
In a massive online world, people act only as well as their conscience demands. When one player's punishment is to be trapped in this world, a disparate group of people seek the answers why. Their motives are varied; their methods even more so. What stands between when we tear down the walls of reality? Where does our soul end and we begin?

I have chosen .hack//SIGN from the series, since its the first one.
The similarities are obvious, both worlds are somewhat MMORPG-like, in fact "The World" in .hack really is an MMO, which is not necessarily true about Druaga no Tou.
Whether its true or false, fact remains fact, someone who enjoyed that particular (and perhaps nostalgic) atmosphere in .hack, will probably like the atmosphere of Druaga no Tou as well.
It is still unsure how will Druaga no Tou carry on, but whether it takes a philosophical turn or not, any .hack fan will be able to enjoy it.
Similar feels to them, both take place in fantasy game worlds, and thus implement the typical class systems found in these games. I definitely think people who like one would like the other, most likely.

Both series are really funny stories of a boy who is completely unsuitable for the role he has to play: a swordsman. In both stories the boy have to protect a witchand together they have a lot of advantoures on their way to love.
