Yamishibai and Hikiko deal with urban legends and are horror - neither are very good in my opinion, and the animation is fairly bizarre in both too. Regardless of my personal ratings, though, I do think fans of one would likely appreciate the other.

Both deal with urban horror stories and have an unusual art style. I wouldn't say either are a particularly good example of the genre, but fans of one should check the other out.

If you like creepy horror, but nothing too scary, I'd recommend both of these titles. Neither is very good, and the animation is odd, but they both tell creepy urban legends stories that Japanese horror fans might be interested in.

Nicknames Nicknames says...

Both are horror shows focused around urban legends which also share an unusual animation style (3DCG in Hikiko and papercut-like animation in Yamishibai). Yamishibai tends to rely too much on cheap jump scares, but fans of one show will like the other one aswell.

Serial Experiments Lain

Serial Experiments Lain

"I have only abandoned my body, I still live here" - are the words emailed to friends of Chisa, several days after her death by suicide. As Lain delves deeper into the world of the "Wired" (also known as the internet), the line between it and reality becomes more and more unclear. Close the world, open the nExt.

Both anime deal with identity and who we really are. Are we who we say we are from a different person's point of view?

Hikiko and Boogiepop Phantom have very similar atmospheres and tell the story in flashbacks. If you want more of that, check out Boogpop Phantom

Both of these are 40 minute horror OVAs that have a 'Japanese horror' feel to them. They both also revolve around creepy kids and their victims. While Hikiko is only one story, and Inuki Kanako Zekkyou Collection is a collection, I think fans of one would appreciate the other.

The King of Pigs

The King of Pigs

Unflinching in its depiction of violence, The King of Pigs begins moments after the brutal murder of a woman at the hands of her husband, a once-successful businessman, Hwang Kyung-mi (Oh Jeong-se, The Unjust), and flashes back to his school days and the abusive events that have shaped his life and that of his estranged fellow classmate Jung Jong-suk (Yang Ik-june, Always Behind You). As school boys, both men were considered part of a lower class of student known as “pigs.” Pitted against the affluent, upper-class “dogs,” the “pigs” hope an end to the abuse will come in the form of transfer student Kim Chul (Kim Hye-na, Flower Island), a rebel who will show the cowering students how to fight fire with fire.
