Synopsis:

Ryuuji Takasu has an eventful life: his classmates think he's a delinquent due to his 'killer' eyes; his crush Minori seems ever out of reach; and he’s just had an unfortunate encounter with 'palm-sized Taiga' – a feisty and dainty wench in his class. With different cleaning habits and tempers, the two clash like night and day; that is, except for the fact that Taiga and Ryuuji have crushes on the other's good friend! With school rumors abounding, the duo must now work together to play matchmaker for each other. Who will end up with their true love?

Kannagi

Kannagi

Mikuriya Jin makes a woodcarving from the remains of a guardian tree, but he gets much more than he bargained for when girl materializes from the statue! Her name is Nagi, the troublesome and at times violent deity of the land; and with nowhere to go, she announces that she will stay with Jin. Now, with Jin’s help and a magical girl wand purchased at the local convenience store, Nagi aims to exorcise the impurities that are infecting the land. Though when the sacred tree is finally uprooted, it is only a matter of time before her powers will diminish; thus, a new object of worship is required, and what better object than Nagi herself! However, obtaining your goal of becoming a popular idol is not so straightforward, especially when you have to compete with your sister, who is unwilling to share her fan base and plans to sabotage you at every step!

It is the same silly romance!

the characters act distant but are secretely close!

Both similar in comedy and writing, with excelent animation.

eaper

If you were drawn to the love story in either of these shows, you would be likely to like both. They both have strong female leads (although Taiga is a bit stronger) with couples that almost refuse to recognize that they are as close as they are, even though they live in the same house (or, in Toradora, spend almost all day together and eat at the same table). They have similar, silly fights, and a similar, tender caring for each other.

Kanon (2006)

Kanon (2006)

It's been seven years since Yuuichi Aizawa returned to the city he once lived in as a child. Though many things happened to Yuuichi in his past, he can only remember bits and pieces. His parents left Yuuichi in the care of Akiko once again, and this time, he will attend the same school as his cousin Nayuki. Many different girls appear before him, and some of them seem to know him from his past. Yuuichi must now recover his memories of the dark secrets that he erased from his heart, before he loses his precious ones.

Very similar both of the dude character meet a girls and fall for one of them. Both are Great!!!

Bvision

How to male main character cares about his friends and doesn't want to lose them/takes care of them should is the main connection here.

Toradora! also contains some of that tear jerking magic and in depth character development that Kanon has however its not as powerfull as Kanon in that area because of the comedy side Toradora! has compared to Kanon.

K-On!

K-On!

It's the first day of high school, and plenty of school clubs are doing their best to recruit new members. However, for ditzy Yui, none of them seem to fit the bill. However, when she accidentally signs up to join the light music club, Yui begins a hilarious adventure to become a world class guitarist! There's just one problem: she's never played the guitar before in her life! Joined by bassist Mio, drummer Ritsu and keyboardist Tsugumi, Yui and the gang will juggle their studies with buying instruments, learning how to read music and even performing in the school festival, all in the hopes of someday becoming a successful band!

While K-On doesn't show much romantic promise like Toradora! did, I think anyone who liked Toradora will like K-On.

The comedy is similar, as well as the pace.  Some characters are alike, aswell.

eaper

Although Toradora! is obviously more romantic, both of the series take place in a school with similar comedy and a similar pace. Both of these shows had good animation and sound tracks (although K-On! has the better soundtrack, seeing as it is based on a music club).

Ocean Waves

Ocean Waves
  • TV Special (1 ep x 72 min)

Ocean Waves is a coming of age tale centered around Taku, an ordinary high school student, his best friend Matsuno, and Rukiko, a reserved outcast who has caught Matsuno's eye. While bounds of friendship are tested, unlikely relationships grow and flourish in this made for television movie.

Ocean Waves has a more mild and believable Tsundere lead who ropes in a similarly earnest guy, with the same context of high school melodrama and family problems.  While these essential elements are the same, the plot and the characters are aimed at a completely different target audience.

It's not a sure bet that Ocean Waves will be to your liking just because you enjoyed Toradora, but it provides an interesting and more realistic look at a tsundere romance that's worth checking out.

Both are tsundere. and the male lead only realises at the end that the feeling they have for the female is love

While this wasn't exactly the first thing that came to mind, this is the best recommendation I could possibly make for Toradora! and REC. Both anime are Romantic Comedies of the best sort. They have actually funny humor, spend time developing the characters and conclude in a way that make the characters seem like -you know- actually thinking, responsible young adults, rather than going in head first into some feeble relationship. If you enjoyed one of these shows, do-not-hesitate to check the other out!

sysmibmip

If you enjoyed Toradora! or Rec, you may want to watch the other. Even though the storylines, settings etc are quite different, they are similar in that the protagonists take thier relationships in a serious, mature manner while maintaining a lightly comedic atmosphere. In both anime the protagonists are often living/staying over under the same roof. Also, unlike some other comedy-romance anime, the male protagonists do not recklessly chase one girl after the other and there is next to no 'genuine' ecchi, though moreso in Toradora! than Rec.
