There is never a slow moment in these anime due to the antics of the highly energetic female protagonists. The male protagonists of both anime who are laidback, and easygoing, are often times roped into the scheming plots of the female, which result in uproarous outcomes. If comedic, slice of life anime is your thing do not pass up these delectable treats!

neverknowsbest

Aside form the obvious comedic aspects, I find Taiga and Haruhi likeable in a similar way.  Though Toradora! does not have as strong of a supporting cast, I feel both play well for eachother.

Sarge128

Both animes are very similar in terms of story line in addition to character designs. Both are school based but focus more on their outside of school life. In terms of characters, both have an overly energetic female (Suzumiya and Minori), the normal guy (Kyon and Ryuuji) and the 'other guy' (Koizumi and Kitamura). So if you liked Toradora! then The Melancholy Of Haruhi Suzumiya is a highly recommended one.

goldy496

If you liked The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, I am fairly certain you'd enjoy Toradora, and vice-versa. First, some similarities.

1.) Both feature an energetic female lead with a penchant for eccentric behavior. Taiga's behavior is more violent, while Haruhi's is more perverse

2.) Both could be considered school life, though Toradora will focus more heavily on the romance than Haruhi. As for their setting, both take place in a high school setting. They are actually shown the same way as well, with relatively few main chracters, an occasional side character and everyone else just merely drawn in to fill the background or chime in a line or two here and there.

3.) Minori and Mikuru are not very similar characters, although arguably the situation is quite similar. Kyon puts up with Haruhi, and is attracted to Mikuru, whereas Ryuuji puts up with Taiga and is attracted to Minori.

4.) Lastly, Kitamura may not flirt obviously with Ryuuji, but his insertion is similar to Itsuki with reference to Kyon. Haruhi may not like Itsuki the way Taiga seems to be attracted to Kitamura, but the similarity is there.

Alas, there is not Yuki Nagato figure in Toradora, so for those coming from Haruhi hoping for a silent, cute character, your hopes have been dashed.

I could go on, but if you've already read this far, you clearly are interested enough to watch one or the other, right?

thepgo

Both female leading characters are energetic, a bit eccentric. Male protagonists are "soul" of both of the series - inteligent, ironic comments often make lots of funny situations.

Both series are school life, having quite similar flavour.

VivisQueen

While Toradora is primarily about a mismatched couple trying to help each other out, it feels a lot like Haruhi Suzumiya's off-beat, ironic content. The characterisation in Haruhi Suzumiya is quirkier and even more entrancing, and the plot is far more original and quite unlike anything you'll have seen before. But if you enjoyed the tone and style of Toradora, Haruhi Suzumiya is a great bet.

DeathCrunch

Two slice of life comedies with clueless main characters that you know you want them to be together but somethings always pulling them apart. Whether it be other love interests or you know, being an all powerful god who can reset the universe at will.

eaper

These series are both centered around a slightly bored male lead that basically completely accepts a rather strong female into their life, leading it to a complete change. Both of these series also have a slight harem feel, are somewhat slow paced, and have a similar arch when it comes to the romance. Finally, the story in each is told from the main male in the series, and each of the males have a similar outlook on life.

DuskFey

If you enjoy anime with strong, determined, and brash heroines, both The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Toradora! should be right up your alley. Haruhi and Taiga both know exactly what they want, and they do whatever it takes to pursue it, however, their strong fronts sometimes blind them to the feelings budding inside their hearts. Still, if you loved one of these girls, the other can probably capture your heart as well. :)

MaraRuizu

The thing that really binds these two together are the character portrayals. Strong casts are included in both shows, with several major characters who are similar. Though I feel I should add that Toradora contains much more character development. (Due to Haruhi being based of a rather long series of light novels).

These two are both slice of school life and comedy, but Toradora is more romance focused whereas Haruhi contains supernatural/science fiction elements.

I your looking for more romantic anime then you should look no further because Kaichou Wa Maid Sama is an anime that shows love in every episode and with each episode you'll fall in love with the characters as the take you deep into more dramatic scenes and you'll never get tired of the comedy and the funny moments .

Slimjim

If I was to make a list of the absolute best romance animes in existence, these two would own spots 1 and 2. I cannot praise either series as much as they deserve, but if you watch them I won't have to!

Each episode of both shows had me laughing until my stomach was sore, in a good way ;). Each show has an absolutely hilarious cast that suppliment the main characters very well.

Any show can make you laugh, but the real beauty of Toradora and Maid-sama lies within romantic aspect. One minute you'll be laughing like crazy, and the next you'll find yourself immersed in those little romantic moments that just put a smile on your face and give you butterflies.

Oh, and they both have a very satisfying ending. I know for a fact that if you liked one, you'll love the other. I enjoyed both from start to finish, and I know you will too! :D

eaper

Each of these series mix great comedy and romance together while following a tsundere lead. Toradora is much more harem-y, and has better comedy and romance/drama, IMO, but if you like one, it is worth checking out the other.

KarnowoB

Both anime have a strong male lead and a tsundere female lead. Not only this but in both cases the female lead acts strong but has her own problems that make her show her weak side.

RnoO

Both are Romance, the girls are masculine and strong, comedy ^-^ !

Both are fun and school life !

I think those two anime similar more than any 2 anime ^-^

silverfur

Both are romantic comedy animes....Higly enjoyable! The main female leads are strong and know when to take stand. Also both represernt high school life. I highly recommend the two.

Hemophobia

These two shows both offer a great plot that is completed in a short anime series. You will be staying up saying, "Only one more!" You actually will watch until you pass out! These shows are perfectly alike in everyway!

alexzaharia

Both Toradora and Maid-sama focus on school life and romance, they are both very amusing, the female leads are very similar in many aspects, and both endings are very nice. The graphics are lovely in both anime, as well.I really loved them since, although being romantic comedies and shoujos, they aren't that foolish and childish: the characters are very interesting and they develop strong and mature feelings for each other. The relationship between the leading characters has a nice development in both anime, as well, although things happen differently in each case.If you have seen and liked one of them you will most certainly like the other.

Shakugan no Shana

Shakugan no Shana

Sakai Yuuji thought he was a normal high school student, until one fateful day when time stopped. Watching in horror, he witnesses a monster devouring the "frozen" people around him; but luckily for Yuuji, he is saved by a sword-wielding red-headed girl that calls herself a "Flame Haze". The girl informs him that he has been dead for some time now and that his current self is merely a replacement for the human that he used be while alive. He is, she says, merely a torch whose life will come to an end when the blue flame in his chest ceases to burn. After this rude awakening, Yuuji realizes that he is able to see the flames of life in other "torches"; and after discovering that a friend of his is also a torch -- and her life is burning out faster than his – he gains the courage to live out the rest of his life with meaning. Will Yuuji be able to find his place in the world before he ceases to exist?

These two series have female leads done by the same voice actress, and she gives her own interpretation to the Tsundere stereotype.  If you're into that genre, both are worth checking out.

adriantoto

I think I could recommend you this because they both start with no feelings and later on they fall in love with each other. Of course there's no much action in Toradora but the story seems alike.

eaper

Both of these stories follow a background relationship between the main character, show casing a strong female and a weaker male. Although Shana has much more action, they both have similar over-arching love themes and the same voice actress in the lead role.

Konakaga

While the series are different in one is action, and other has comedy; Both Shana, and Toradora have focus on the romance slowing showing between the tsundere female, and male leader; as well as their character growth. If you enjoyed one of them the other is worth trying.

rusty0

In both shows, the relationship between the too leads is fairly similar, in that both female protagonists are tsundere characters, not to mention having the same voice actress.

It should be mentioned that the relationship between the protagonists is very strong and well done in both cases.

They are both also, in a way, a sort of coming of age story.

However, be aware that Shana is also an action/fantasy anime, while Toradora! is not.

KittyEmperor

Both series follow a strong female and a weak male and the romance the grows between the two.  Granted Shakugan no Shana tends to have a lot more action than Toradora but both have a nicely developed romance and as a bonus it features the same female lead voice actor.

budda22

Both of these anime's are made of the same company, and both of them has the same setting with a male and female as the main charactars, with a second female falling in love with the male. Both of the animes also have the same rawing style and is a comedy in its own ways.

tenshi28

If you liked Toradora!, you'd also like Shakugan No Shana, since both anime have a tsundere (a character that flips between aggressive and sentimental) female protagonist(Taiga and Shana who are both voiced by Kugimiya Rie). However, Shakugan no Shana is more fictional than Toradora! which is more of a slice-of-life anime.

If you like Toradora! then i can guarantee you will like this one. Why? well first of all the story and the genre are some what similar . But theirs more.. Hidan no Aria is basically about a guy who is being harrased day by day by a short girl who is bossy cute and hides her emotions, Sounds familiar?and not only that but she ends up making poor Kinjii her slave ... What will happen between these two? what kind of days will follow through the more and more we see these two  together .. only one way to find out...

NightShroud

It's based around a male protagonist, then there's a girl who he befriends, whom is also a tsundere, it's also based around a school.

daysie1234

Same voice actor for main female and male character, same tsundere genre, strong female lead, love triangles. Toradora has more of a school setting, but the main characters living together/next door is present.

Kryn

These anime are both so alike in many ways, they both feature a tsundere girl with a flat chest complex, and both characters are funny and enjoyable as well as having their own unique traits. The protagonist goes through pain from the girl in both, while also being shown kindness at times. The storylines aren't similar at all, but if you enjoy one you'll enjoy the other.

TotalCode

wonderful tsundere romances with kick-ass heroines. Also a plus for seiyuu followers, both share the same male and female lead actors

Doomoo

Both anime are very similar in so many ways. While one focuses on normal highschool teens (relatively) the Hidan No Aria is more extreme with actions and explosions and shit. However though it does have action it does not have the same level of story depth, character development or complex realistic interpersonal relationships that Toradora has. Basically Toradora focused on what I mentioned above intensely while Hidan no Aria focused a bit on that, a bit on harem and a bit on action. If they dont' sound similar don't worry, just watch them and you'll see. Oh and also the Aria is a Tsundere voiced by the same VA as Taiga.

Gougou354

It's the same main actor than Toradora. Ryuji and taiga from toradora :) Actually i didn't finished the anime but Hidan No Aria looks a lot like Toradora, which is my fav anime in romance category.

These anime both have similar art styles, which was the first similarity I noticed. They both focus on ordinary, easy-to-relate-to characters and the friendships and romances between them, as well as the influence of the past on each main character. Though it seems and often is lighthearted, like Toradora!, AnoHana is very intense and dramatic, ranging from tear-inducing to heart-warming within a single episode.

VivisQueen

Because they share the same director, Tatsuyuki Nagai, both AnoHana and Toradora have a very similar vibe. Moreover, they both achieve convincing love polygons that hinge on complex characters and their carefully crafted emotions. One of these mellow, understated (mostly) shows full of great comic touches should satisfy as much as the other.

alucard07

Both are great love stories about poeple slowly realising their feelings, Ano hi mita hana no namae o boku-tachi wa mada shiranai is a beautiful story of how people change. Toradora is a tsundere who changes and relaises her feelings so both are perfect series for a romance fan or even someone interested in tragedy. Both will not disappoint.

eaper

These series each combine a lot of love triangles, comedy, drama, and romance while telling a sort of coming of age story. With themes of love, unrequetted love, maturing, and moving on they fit well together. They both have rather concrete endings as well.

LesboPonyArmageddon

They're just so... similar. It is really an 'if you like one you'll like the other' situation rather than 'these two animes share similar themes but are actually totally different'. Do watch both. It's the same director, too.

Mailtiger

Leaving of the supernatural part both the animes are much similar... animation, daily life style of characters, light hearted romances, friendship, even jealousy are common in both.... while 'Ano hi....' concentrates on deep romances, drama, 'Toradora' is little bit releived.... both are tear inducing animes with 'ano hi....' kept at high position in hierarchy.... if you like one you wil surely like te other.... have fun watchin ^_^
