Bleach

Bleach

Fifteen-year-old Ichigo Kurosaki is a typical teen with fighting skills, two caring sisters and a special trait: he can see ghosts. However, when Ichigo and his family find themselves under attack by a huge beast, Ichigo discovers that there’s more to the supernatural world than the everyday specter. Vengeful spirits known as Hollows roam the world in search of devouring souls, and Shinigami – soul reapers – work tirelessly to defeat them and guide normal ghosts into a place called Soul Society. Ichigo valiantly fights the Hollow that threatens his sisters, but on the verge of defeat a Shinigami named Rukia gives him her powers, turning him into a Shinigami himself. Ichigo must now adjust to his new life of both vanquishing and saving souls for the sake of Soul Society.

These series both have intense fighting and a team of high school students who recently acquired power through spiritual means. Tokyo Majin Gakuen Kenpuchou Tou is much darker than Bleach and lacks the humor of it also, but it makes up for it in gore.

I did consider putting in a recommendation for Bleach to go with both of these series, but then remembered I don't particularly like it >.>

What D.Gray Man and Tokyo Majin seem to offer up above and beyond Bleach is more depth to the characters and no, or very few, filler episodes. The fight scenes in both are quite breathtakingingly beautiful and the characters are well thought out.

Whereas Tokyo Majin focusses on Japanese mythology, D.Gray Man is based around fiction from the Christian bible.

Ga-Rei -Zero-

Ga-Rei -Zero-

Kagura and Yomi are two girls who have a bond that cannot be broken. While once they fought side by side against the supernatural forces that threaten the planet, fate had something different in store for these star-crossed companions. Yet to understand the present, one must first experience the past – a time before Kagura’s involvement with the Supernatural Disaster Prevention Agency. Always cheery and good-natured to a fault, the young Kagura first meets Yomi when she is invited into her home. Over time, the two battle malicious spirits and grow closer together – but soon, more terrifying foes begin to reveal themselves. A swarm of glowing blue butterflies and a mysterious stone are harbingers of darker things to come, and one thing’s for sure: Kagura and Yomi will never be the same.

High school students on a demon slaying rampage and living out their tragic personal dramas in the process. Ga Rei: Zero emphasises more strongly the whole 'families demon hunting for generations' stuff similar to Aoi and Kisaragi's background, and it has much better animation. But if what you really care about is more demon arse-kicking with potent tragic overtones, Ga Rei: Zero should be right up your alley.

Ghost Hunt and Tokyo Majin are both in the scary/horror genres, and they deal with weird paranormal activity. If you like ghosts, scary stuff and being a little creeped out you will surely like both series.

The main idea in Hellsing and Tokyo Majin is battle against the evil undead to save the city. While in Hellsing it's a rebel vampire fighting with guns against ghouls and other vampires, in Tokyo Majin there's a group of youngsters fighting zombies using magic and martial arts. Well, fighting anyway.
