Lovely Complex is a story of a boy and a girl. The girl, Koizumi Risa, is much taller than the average Japanese girl; and the boy, Atsushi Otani, is much shorter than the average Japanese boy. Due to their immense difference in size and constant bickering with each other, the duo is unwillingly the school’s comic relief. As Risa and Otani continue to provide endless laughter for the masses, their friendship develops; and with that, so does Risa’s feelings for Otani...
What those two have in common is the issue of long being unaware of someone's feelings, and after realising them, coping with what future brings.
Funny school romance including love triangles - that's how I will describe both: Lovely complex and Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo. Main characters are shy and overthrown with everyday activities so basicly they don't notice their love at first. They are just friends and only in sometime friendship starts to grow to something more.
Ocean Waves is a coming of age tale centered around Taku, an ordinary high school student, his best friend Matsuno, and Rukiko, a reserved outcast who has caught Matsuno's eye. While bounds of friendship are tested, unlikely relationships grow and flourish in this made for television movie.
Both of these are positively charming slice-of-life high school romantic anime, with likeable characters with a pleasant blend of humour and drama that feel quite similar. While The Girl Who Leapt Through Time also has a science fiction aspect, I think someone who enjoyed one will appreciate the other.
Both of these series are, although they don't seem to be on the surface, rather romantic. Beyond that, they are slice of life school stories with a touch of comedy.
One afternoon on her way home from school, Haru saves a cat from getting run over by a truck and promptly gets the shock of her life when it stands on its hind legs to thank her. That night, she is greeted by a parade of felines who inform Haru that her earlier heroics saved the prince of the Cat Kingdom. Haru suddenly finds herself inundated with gifts of mice and catnip as means of thanks, culminating in the announcement that she will be taken to their kingdom to marry the prince. With no desire to marry Prince Lune, Haru turns to The Baron and Muta from the Cat Bureau for help, but unable to stop them, Haru is swept away by a horde of cats. Can Haru prevent this marriage of inconvenience and return home before she becomes a cat herself?
Both of these films feature a very similar protagonist - a schoolgirl of that certain age who is sometimes a little clumsy. Admittedly the science fiction elements in The Girl Who Leapt Through Time are downplayed while The Cat Returns becomes a full blown and rather excessively quaint fantasy feature; I found The Girl to be by far the better of the two films though The Cat Returns is not without its charms. Not my strongest recommendation but it's possible if you liked one you may enjoy aspects of the other.
both animes include main charectors who dont exactly know who they are but they wish to find out. plenty of comedy... light romance... and difficult situations.. watch them!
Ryuuji Takasu has an eventful life: his classmates think he's a delinquent due to his 'killer' eyes; his crush Minori seems ever out of reach; and he’s just had an unfortunate encounter with 'palm-sized Taiga' – a feisty and dainty wench in his class. With different cleaning habits and tempers, the two clash like night and day; that is, except for the fact that Taiga and Ryuuji have crushes on the other's good friend! With school rumors abounding, the duo must now work together to play matchmaker for each other. Who will end up with their true love?
Two slice of life comdies and both love stories centered around the moral decicion.
To say what you want to say and achieve you own happiness or to say what you think you should to make others happy.
If you liked Toki wo Kakeru Shouju, you will definitely enjoy Toradora! They both are rather comedic comedies that deal with the main characters coming to terms with their feelings and how to deal with them.
Rumors have it that a monster has appeared over the city, and Yuki would love to catch a glimpse! However, she soon discovers something even more fascinating: a boy named Tetsu not only knows of the monsters, he has a monster pet of his own named Cenco! Yuki is delighted to meet such a creature and tags along with Tetsu to find out more, but soon the two find themselves in the middle of a dangerous conflict with another monster that threatens them and bystanders alike!
If nothing else, these two works are strikingly similar in tone, visual style, and character design - they seem almost born for each other. The low-key, naturalistic depiction of teens is something of a similar mindset. That both also have a sci-fi element is notable - however, Cencoroll is all about the sci-fi action (however peculiarly so); while The Girl Who Leapt Through Time uses a non-action sci-fi concept as an integral force to its low key and very human drama.
These are rather major differences to take into consideration; but the works just feel so tonally similar to me I feel obliged to cross recommend them.
Both animes are very fun because of the animation styles and charector development! You will instantly fall in love with the charectors and become absorbed into the movie! full of Drama and action! I highly recommend either one these confusingly fun movies!
