NieA Under 7

NieA Under 7

In the future, aliens coexist freely with mankind on Earth. One such alien is NieA, a lazy yet spirited girl who wastes away her days while living with the studious Mayuko. And life isn't easy... Mayuko is always short on food money, the spa where she works is about to go bankrupt and Mayuko's alien-crazy friend Chiaki is obsessed with NieA. A light, mostly comedic slice-of-life show.

Though not quite as strictly "romance", NieA Under 7 appeals with it's slow, measured pace. The humour, characters and mood of the series are warm and subdued. With 13 episodes, the series doesn't overstay its welcome either.

Seraphim Call

Seraphim Call

In the futuristic city of Neo-Acropolis, eleven girls lead very different lives. Each has a different story to tell shaped by her fears and ambitions, and the small joys and sorrows that make up the formative moments of her life. From a scientific genius who has to face her fear of men, to a young girl who does not want to grow up, to a high school manga author struggling to meet the deadlines, to the intricate relationship between two sisters - the girls come from all walks of life, sharing only the city of Neo-Acropolis, and that mysterious spark that makes their lives so interesting.

Both Seraphim Call and To Heart are about people. Many episodes of each show are devoted to showing the viewer the inner nature of a different girl. The main difference between them is that To Heart is about romance while Seraphim Call only uses romance in a few of its episodes as a minor plot. Seraphim Call is really about the nature of humanity and the world we live in, but they are quite similar in that they are both centered around beautiful and fascinating girls.

Shuffle!

Shuffle!

Kaede is a devoted high school student who lives with her adopted brother Rin. She holds a quiet confidence that one day, when Rin finally starts showing interest in sex, he will make the obvious choice and turn to his loving sister. But what Kaede wasn’t counting on was the lords of heaven and hell coming to Earth, wanting Rin to mate with their nubile daughters! Rin, like any teenager would, takes full advantage of his newly acquired harem; but how long can he keep up his carefree, boxed-lunches-on-the-rooftop lifestyle, as the horde of girls on his tail grows?

Same school type relationship with many girls mixed in. Both animes have a similar feel but Shuffle is probably the better of the two. If you can watch To Heart its sequel is far better (To Heart ~ Remember My Memories).
