Both series have a more down-to-earth take on superheroes (or masked heroes in Samurai Flamenco) and how they would function in modern society. Both have a male lead duo that exchanges a lot of banter back and forth, and neither is especially serious.

If you found one to be in good fun you might want to check the other one out.

ZetsubouKaiji ZetsubouKaiji says...

Both of these are shows about super heroes in a real world setting. They both feaute a pair of male leads that have interesting dialogues between them. Also both shows take a more light hearted approach to the material with lots of humor.

If you like one then you should check out the other.

While it's hard to say for sure while Samurai Flamenco is still running, there's some definite similarities in tone and theme.  What is a real hero?  How can you balance being a hero with your life and normal responsibilities?  Not to mention the way between heroes and their need to save people and elected officials.

Also, leads who must help everyone no matter how much trouble they cause.

Two guys--one serious and by-the-book, the other goofy but kind-hearted--team up together to fight crime! Before Samurai Flamenco even aired, I wondered if it was going to be similar to Tiger & Bunny. When I first started watching the show I thought I was mistaken. I don't want to spoil it, but they ended up being more similar than I expected. SamFlam is definitely more interested in parody, but otherwise both of these series share similar elements--the "buddy cop" relationship of the two leads, the mix of comedy, action and drama, the interest in how media would interplay with real-life superheroes, a strong supporting cast (some of which don't get nearly enough development), etc. Definitely a pair of superhero anime that are pretty similar--and both highly enjoyable, if flawed at times.

Both of these anime have a similar feel to them: Fun and wacky with some serious moments. They're both a great time... Action, comedy, superheros and yaoi undertones... What more could you want?

My Hero Academia

My Hero Academia

Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not going to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies. Now, the only thing standing between him and his first class is the academy’s formidable entrance exam—nothing a little private tutoring from the world’s mightiest hero can’t solve.

Both anime have a similar superhero themes, with people being born with strange superpowers and its strange limitations. Tiger and Bunny focus more on the superhero industry would work if heros excistised while BnHA focuses more on superheros fighting villans.

Other than that both have:-

  1. A wide range of characters who all get good development
  2. A hero fighting for fame or wants to do good(cliched)
  3. Paternership and friendship
  4. Superb animation!
  5. A plot that is light and dosent need viewers full attention.
  6. A plot despite being light very engaging.

both of these anime are heavily super hero saves the day based, with the main problems arising from issues of having/ controlling power, even the main characters powers are similar, if you like one you'll probably like the other

Both series involve superheroes/people with superpowers.  Both have a large cast of characters and contain a nice mix of comedy, drama, and action.

zirkkun zirkkun says...

Humanity has taken its next step into evolution where humans have begun to develop superpowers. Because of that, society has a new form of occupation: heroes. Now, which one of these shows did I just describe? With a description that vague, it's hard to tell -- which is why it will be very easy for a fan of Hero Academia to pick up Tiger and Bunny or vice versa.

Hero Academia has a far more fun tone to the majority of the series and is more of a "coming of age" story due to being in a high school environment. Tiger and Bunny on the other hand is about adults for the most part, and has a rather serious tone, being far more plot-driven as apposed to Hero Academia's character-driven nature. However, despite that, they both have pretty strong casts where the protagonists have clear goals in mind. Izuku Midoriya goes through through high school to become the greatest hero of all time, all while the villians target him; Kotetsu Kaburagi has to go through emotional and family problems with his partner Barnaby Brooks while trying to be a good dad and a model hero at the same time.

Both protagonists want to become what is good in the world, and while for Izuku most people are the same way, most people look down on Kotetsu for his attitude since being a hero in Sternbild City means to be flashy and fantastic. Heroes in Hero Academia are respected and there are thousands of them. The job is considered dangerous and the show makes it clear that it is not the fun that the television makes people believe. Because of that, students are then taught at a young age the truth about being a hero before it's too late for them to find out. However, the opposite is true for Tiger and Bunny: heroes are known as celebrities and there are very few successful in the business. Fame is measured by screen time rather than heroicness or justice served -- so despite the fact that Kotetsu does the most work out of any of the Hero TV members, he is almost fired from his job for not being flashy enough on air.

All in all, both shows are fantastic in the genre of superheroes, which is coming from someone who usually doesn't like this genre at all. They come from almost the same concept, but take two very different end results, and it makes both series easy to pick up if you've watched one but also interesting enough to not feel repetitive while watching the other.

The same genres: ACTION, COMEDY, SCI FI, SUPERPOWERS.

In both anime:

- superheroes compete with each other and have their own rating;

- the protagonist works in tandem with another hero;

- a lot of superheroes with different powers, who belong to higher or lower leagues;

- shows how heroes integrate in modern society.

Both Action Packed Superhero animes, though one punch man more focuses on the main charachter saitma (one punch man) as himself, whereas Tiger and Bunny focuses on a variety of superhero charachters and kotetsu (tiger) and barnaby (bunny) - imo tiger and bunny has better fight scenes and animation, but one punch man is definattely funnier :P

Both Promare and Tiger & Bunny focus the action on a single town, have an intense relationship between two men at the center of the plot, and have a lot of superpowered action that are really gorgeous to look at. They're also both just incredibly entertaining action romps.

zirkkun zirkkun says...

Both Promare and T&B have action scenes that are beautiful and entertaining with a strong cast of characters to support the story, even if the character's role is rather small on the surface. Not to mention the dynamic between Kotetsu and Barnaby has very much the same vibes as that between Galo and Lio, respectively.

While Double Decker! took longer to grab me than Tiger & Bunny did, I immediately saw much of what I liked in Tiger & Bunny present in this show.  Colorful and downright exuberant character designs, with even the more somber characters visually striking.  A world which felt flushed out without having to tell you everything at the get go.  And, while the emphasis is largely on Kirill in the first three episodes, a solid cast of characters.

I'm glad I stuck with it long enough to get to the ensemble and see Kirill starting to grow up a little.  The plot really picked up in episode five, and I hope to see it pay off as time goes by.  Tiger & Bunny astounded me in its ability to turn around and suddenly shift into a really well-written plot, so I have my fingers crossed for this one.

(Note: Written as of episode 8)

Htieks Htieks says...

Even disregarding the strong visual similarities (let me check... yep, same team and character designer), both shows are essentially buddy cop action comedies with a tint of fantasy. In Tiger & Bunny it's super heroes, in Double Decker it's a bit more sci-fi, but at the end of the day there's not much difference. They also both have a colorful cast of side characters and do try to spend a bit of time putting them in the spotlight.

Overall Tiger & Bunny was better and more memorable, but DD might still be worth a shot if you enjoyed that one.

Although maybe at first glance they don't seem familliar at all, there is one key simmilarity that connects Tiger & Bunny and Death Note together: that is the concept of the never-ending fight between law and crime, and the many different perspectives one can view them from that both shows offer us. Although the main perspective is offered by main characters, when all is taken into consideration, in the end it is left to the vewer to actually choose what is really this 'justice' everyone is trying so hard to defend and carry out. Oh, and a couple more things: both series have a very balanced plot that is at times too intense to bear, and although the character pallette and the mood seem completely different from one another, the basic feeling after cooling off the series is practically the same (at least to me). :D Nevertheless, I recommend to at least check out the other if you've watched one.

OK, let's hear it at the beginning: Both series include masked heros of justice who are there to fight for the protection of their beloved city from crazed villans. There, I said it. Moving on. Both series include the main character whose parents have been killed by a murderer when they were very young and nowadays can no longer remember the murderer's face, so they decide to fight crime while at the same time investigating their parents' murder. Although Batman: Gotham Knight is and had to be far darker-themed and gloomier than Tiger & Bunny, the theme for both series is incredibly simmilar and the past and personalities of characters are also quite alike. On the other account, the animation of both seres has been tempered with and new things have been tried out; so if you're into that and pure masked avenger/hero action, I strongly reccommend it. :D

Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk

Tower of Druaga: the Aegis of Uruk

In the kingdom of Urak, the tower of Druaga is a source of fear and death; it is the cause of disease and monster attacks, and climbing it is impossible given the ferocity of the monsters within – until now. It is the Summer of Anu, a period that occurs once every five years during which the monsters are weakened. Jil, a guardian, is one adventurer whose goal is to reach the top level and slay the tower’s creator, the demon Druaga, and finally bring peace to Uruk with the help of a powerful artifact found within. However, Jil and his friends aren’t the only ones who aim for the top; it’s a race to the finish!

Both series are parodies of some sort, and at the same time are actually telling a story that is themed like the shows they're parodying; very good stories, too. Packed with good humour and drama that balance each other out, both Tiger & Bunny and Tower of Druaga 1st season offer something new and not new at the same time, which on its own is refreshing enough. Add good music and charming character design to the mix and you get two anime that shouldn't be disregarded before even giving them a try. So, without further ado, let me say the well known sentence around us people who reccommend stuff to other people: 'If you've liked one, check out the other!' :D

These series may not seem similar at first glance, due to one being a detective mystery and the other about superheroes. However, there are similarities that go outside the genre. The genres in themselves are not that different from each other after giving it some thought, both featuring gifted individuals dealing with criminals and bringing about justice. They both have fairly large ensemble casts, and while the episodes focus on two main characters, there are episodes that deal with each member of that main ensemble. Detective Academy Q isn't exactly a competition in the way that Tiger & Bunny is, but there is a spirit of competition with the main characters, not to mention the rival class from Detective Academy Q that tries to 'outsolve' the protagonists. While most episodes of both series deal with different crimes that are wrapped up in a matter of episodes, they both have a larger mystery that is ever present throughout the series.
