Meet Ryoma Echizen, the cocky prince of tennis. He comes to Japan from America where he is known as the Prince of Tennis – but that is no surprise considering he is the son of the former tennis pro, Nanjiroh Echizen, otherwise known as the Samurai! Upon transferring to the school Seishun Gakuen, he meets the regulars of the tennis club, and becomes the first freshman to become a regular; but he has a lot to learn yet about being a tennis star. Ryoma, along with the rest of his teammates, aspire to win the Nationals; but first, they must defeat the other teams which stand in their way!

Nabari no Ou

Nabari no Ou

There are two worlds which exist side by side – the ordinary surface world of the humans and the secret world of ninjas called Nabari. Within this secret world, the opposing ninja groups are fighting over who should possess the ultimate power known as Shinra Banshou. Enter Miharu Rokujou, a high-school student who lives a carefree life and likes to keep himself to himself. Unfortunately for Miharu, his carefree life is about to be over, because within him is hidden the ultimate power and there is no end of evil minions ready to kidnap him for it! Miharu’s only chance of survival is to embrace this mystic world and become the King of Nabari himself. With the help of his new ninja friends, Kouichi, Shimizu, and Kumohira, can he come to grips with his powers or will he fall prey to his many enemies instead?

Though the genre is different (PoT is about sports and NnO is about ninja) the main characters and the mood seem similar. Both Rokujou and Ryoma are young and calm and cool. If you like Echizen then you'll like Miharu and vice versa.

While this may seem like an incredibly bizarre recommendation, bear with me. Both of these series are incredibly cheesy and surprisingly funny. Neither should be taken too seriously in order to get the most enjoyment out of it. Also both have taken two seemingly normal concepts, baking and tennis and turned it into more of a shounen type battle with special moves. If you enjoyed the utter silliness of one, then it's worth watching the other.
