Saekano: How to Raise a Boring Girlfriend

One day, an otaku high school student Tomoya Aki has a fateful encounter with a girl. This meeting inspires Tomoya to design his very own “gal-game” featuring a heroine modeled after the girl he saw. In order to make his desire a reality, Tomoya must persuade a few eccentric “creators” such as the ace member of the art club, Eriri Spencer Sawamura and the school’s top student, Utaha Kasumigaoka to join his development team. Meanwhile, Tomoya is shocked to learn that the girl he idolized as his muse for this whole project was none other than his boring classmate, Megumi Kato!

Both animes are about  the mc wanting to fulfill there dream to make there own video game, even though they both don't really have a good idea are really the skill to make a video game. Both anime also show a good of amount of the otaku lifestyle and both are also romcom.

Both these anime seem to be based around a boy who has a dream for doing something more in his life. This main also meets certain characters who have similar aspirations and even though Eriri has a more Tsundere character compared to Mashiro who has a more conserved look at her manga drawing, both this character share similar aspirations. The story is quite similar in the sense it is about the characters developing their ideas and such but there is certainly a bit more drama in Sakurasou. But even so both these series are worth checking out if you have seen one of them.

Wolf Girl and Black Prince

Wolf Girl and Black Prince

Everyone knows that lies can come back to bite you, but when Erika makes up a fake boyfriend to impress her new classmates, the results may literally end up hounding her forever! Yes, it was dumb, but what were the odds that the random guy whose picture she used would turn out to be a student at her own school? Or that said faux-boyfriend's silence would come with such a horrible price? Now Erika doesn't just have to run and fetch at Kyoya Sata's command, she has to bark too!Because he's literally treating her like a dog, and she just has to roll over and take it, or he'll tell everyone the truth! But that's not the worst part, because even though this wolf in hunk's clothing has Erika collared, she may be starting to have REAL feelings for him anyway! Is she barking up the wrong tree, or could true love be unleashed in Wolf Girl & Black Prince?

They're both romantic anime largely about talent and improving as an artist. I'd say these two anime are the most similar ones on the list of recommendations

For Romance lovers this is a great recommendation. However, the unique traits that Your lie in April bring sure are missed in The Pet Girl of Sakurasou. The comedy in this later one cited above is better - as in I had bigger laughs at the ridiculous situation. The drama portion (the frustration, love interests not being fulfilled and the ~tragedies~) tend to be very different, as in YLIA it's a much heavier feeling and way more frequent. The art style of both is great, again with the first being better than the latter.

ef - a tale of memories

ef - a tale of memories

In a high school setting, there are many people whose stories must be told: Hiro, an aspiring manga artist whose view of the world is "missing a certain color," according to himself; his childhood friend Kei, who is vying for his attention; Kyosuke, a photographer and cameraman who seeks to capture true emotion in his work; the ever-cheerful Miyako, who meets Hiro by chance and immediately becomes attached to him; the gentle Renji, unsure of his aspirations to become a novelist; and Kei's mysterious and quiet sister Chihiro, who seems to be a different person every day. As time passes and they interact with one another more, their paths increasingly intertwine as shades of regrettable pasts emerge.

Both Melodies and Memories have a lot in common with this anime. They are both beautiful stories that start off with the every day character and bring you into a world of drama and love that can't be simply described. Memories is also more light hearted than Melodies, which matches well with the earlier episodes of Sakurasou. Sakurasou has a wider range of emotions with mostly love and passion, where ef has more heartbreak, though not so much in Memories. Both of them keep you anchore din your seat with a unique sense of always being emotionally moved in every episode which is strange, because the whoel epsiode isn't simply Drama, there is much mroe to it, yet somehow even in the smiling happy moments and the everyday things you keep feeling strongly for the anime; you never ever feel bored. You find yourself sitting with the characters, begging them to make the next move or cheering for their successes and crying for their failures. I can't simply reccomend one over the other so watch them both as they will completely woo any true Drama/Romance fans.

The story of Yu Himura and Yuko Amamiya’s relationship is troubled and complex. One day, Yuko showed up at Yu's high school and, despite the two not having seen one another for ten years, confessed that Yu was her first love and still loves him. In the present, Mizuki Hayama moves in with her cousin as she prepares to begin high school. She meets his smooth and handsome neighbor, Shuichi Kuze, and begins spending increasing amounts of time with him; they begin to fall for one another despite their age difference. The tale of these relationships thus begins to unfold.
