Mihama Academy is a prison-like school built to preserve fruit that has fallen too far from its tree. It is home to five female students who each have their reasons for enrolling in the academy and live their life idly within the walls of Mihama. One day, Kazami Yuuji the institute’s first male student arrives and throws the orderly rhythm of Mihama off balance. Is Yuuji what the girls need to hold of their lives once more, or will the weight of their pasts prove too steep a wall to overcome? Or is his past even heavier than any of the others?
Both series have main male characters who have pasts that were meant to be kept secret, and military based. The main difference is the fact that Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei is magic but if you like one, you will like the other.
To tell you the truth i have a hard time starting new anime so the first few times i saw this anime recommended to me i just cast it aside, but after after watching the fruit of grisaia (and loving it of course) i found myself wanting more.I will say the story and anime are fairly different from each other, so far i have seen 13 of the fruit of grisaia and 21 of magic highschool and the fruit of grisaia's story is a lot darker so if you have watched the fruit of grisaia, magic high will be a step down and if youve seen magic high grisaia will be a step up (in the blood darker story and sad twisted kind of stuff) But if youve seen one definitely give the other a shot!
They both have a male main character that has a mysterious past and extraordinary fighting abilities.
Both share the concept of a male lead with a somewhat difficult past with each of these characters being strongly influenced by their sisters.
Mahouka has the additional magic aspect while Grisaia maintains a focus on the story behind the MCs/Heroines.
Both feature a male character who seems calm and strong and has a secret. The secret in both cases is their involvement in some group that fights and kills. Both characters attend a special school and pretend to be normal high school students while hiding their true self.
If you like one you'll like the other. They have a similar main character, but they are set in different worlds. The main difference is that there is magic in 'the irregular at magic high school'. You'll probably enjoy both!
They both have a very mysterious Male MC with a past he wishes to forget at all costs. Other than The Fruit of Grisaia being slightly(And by slightly I mean very) ecchi and for the more mature of audience it is a great Anime. On the other hand The Irregular at Magic High School again has a very mysterious Male MC but we never really learn of his past, but we do learn that he has a very potent magical energy even though he tries to hide it from his classmates. And also his little sister is very much in love with him
Magic Knights are modern magic-users who fight with weapons converted from their souls. Ikki Kurogane goes to a school for these Magic Knights, but he is the "Failed Knight" or "Worst One" who is failing because he has no magical skills. However, one day, he is challenged to a duel by Stella, a foreign princess and the "Number One" student. In this duel, "the loser must be obedient for life."
One Quick Statement - They're Basically The Same.
Listed in Point format:
Is there any more that I need to list? – No.
Note: This recommendation is not complete and is based off the first episode of Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry.
Both of the main protagonists are seen as incompetent in the beginning. As the series goes on they both gain recognition and are not seen as a weakling.
Hero have irregular power in both of anime.so they were consider as low level students..graualy they become power full.and they got sister who want to more than sister.
BOTH PROTAGONIST ARE KIND OF OVERPOWERED BUT NOT RECOGONISED AT FIRST. THERE IS A SLIGHT HAREM IN BOTH AND THERE IS SOME BROXSIS IN BOTH.
So much alike I love it. It's perfect for those of you who loved The Irregular at Magic High School
Invertia… an unprecedented disaster that struck the world during the 20th century. Because of this disaster, numerous cities around the world were destroyed. However, within the meteor, an unknown element called mana was discovered, which allowed human technology to make rapid strides. This also gave rise to a new species of human born with unique skills – the Star Pulse Generation. The setting for the world’s greatest comprehensive battle spectacle, the Festas, is an academy city above the water surrounded by six academies called Rikka also commonly known as Asterisk.
I get the same feeling from The Asterisk War as I did on Irregular at Magic High School. Also the colors and animation are close. The Asterisk War takes place when a new student seems to be weak but is actually really strong like in The Irregular at Magic High School when the main character is a weed but is the strongest in the school.
BASICALLY, THE ASTERISK WAR IS THE SAME AS RAKUDAI KISHI NO CAVALRY. RAKUDAI KISHI NO CAVALRY IS THE SAME AS IRREGULAR. HIGH SCHOOL SETTING, SOME SISTER PROBLEMS (KIND OF), MAGIC, FUTURISTIC AND PROTAGONIST IS OVERPOWERED BUT NOT RECOGONISED AT FIRST
So, here we have two shows based arouind the idea of an op main character in a magic school that fights other schools in competitions and things. Characters are very similar and to be honest their storyline can be seen as very similar (except Asterisk was much shorter). Anyway I think if you liked one you should like the other xx
After one episode of The Asterisk Wars, all I could think was 'this is so similar to The Irregular At Magic High School'. So far I still haven't changed my mind.
In a post-apocalyptic world overrun with great beasts called Filth Monsters, a glimmering dome protrudes from the wasteland. This is Zuellni, a mobile city unique for having a consciousness in the form of ‘electronic fairies’. Moreover, Zuellni is an academy where the next generation of powerful Heavens-Blade wielders gather to pit their strength against each other in inter-platoon competitions. Nina Antalk, military student and leader of the 17th Platoon, is intent on recruiting only the best; thus, when mysterious Layfon Alseif transfers to the academy, she instantly recognizes his abilities and decides he’s the perfect candidate to join her group. However, with a secret past that won’t leave him alone, and unknown powers beyond the academy taking an interest in Zuellni, Layfon joining the team is only the start of all their troubles.
Both anime, though different in the type of powers that they wield, have abilities that make them OP in every way as well as a mysterious past that is slowly revealed to show you just how amazing the main character is. They also take place in a school setting with the main character having recently joined.
both the main characters have a mysterious past, both are sometimes very OP. High school themed.
Both these anime are perfect for anyone who is sick of watching Shounen animes where the MC is stupid, unskilled, weak and always forgets any lesson they have lernt less than two episodes later.
The protagonists of both programs have done all their leveling up before the show and have valid reasins for not using all his skills and power and hiding them.

They both have magic and bothe are interesting, so go for it... Jesus i'm never making another recommendation, why does it have to have so many characters?
