Kamichu! and Tokikake are both anime about a young girl who gains fantastical powers and begins applying them to her everyday life. The overtones of Tokikake are sci-fi while Kamichu!'s are more fantastical and deal with Shinto beliefs. However, both shows are very focused on the characters's everyday lives being influenced by their newfound power. Both are happy at times and melancholy at others, and both are dashed with a spot of romance.

Yumedamaya Kidan and Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo are certainly "coming of age" stories that are fit for just about any audience. Both titles go through a nervous strain of making a very important decision through their life; a simple yes or no trial. The two main girls have fitting personalities and I recommend this title if you liked the other. What truly initiated this recommendation though, was simply the (animation) sequence of Naho going to the dream world, or Makoto going through time - it was quite similar.

XXXHOLiC the Movie: A Midsummer Night's Dream

Watanuki faces challenges in every area. Spirits chase him, his best friend Doumeki isn't really a friend, and his boss Yuuko seems to have mistaken him for a servant come housewife. Upon arrival, the house proves to be more than a bit unusual, and the other guests are almost scary with their fanatical collecting. But, the worst thing about the situation is the knowledge that for all the weirdness Watanuki can see, it is absolutely certain that the mysteries are way more complicated that he thinks. Depending on Yuuko's arcane knowledge may be the only hope.

Both of these movies contain a mystical plot and some unexpected turns that seem almost impossible unless you see it for yourself! See if you can understand the magic before the end!

It's all about the atmosphere. Toki wo Kakeru Shoujo and Piano no Mori gave a similar "feel". It could possibly be the similar style of art and colours that influenced this ambience. I would say that the direction of drama as a genre go hand-in-hand when it comes to these two titles. Piano no Mori and Girl Who Leapt Through Time are excellent movies.

Both series have a good storyline and the same type of platonic love romance. Kare Kano have a comic streak to it that is missing in Toki Wo Kakeru Shoujo, but it makes up for it in a kinda subtile humor of a naive girl.
