Another harem anime that has a similar comedy feel. There's no sci-fi, but expect even more slapstick, romantic situations, and over-the top hilarious characters.

MaximusThrax MaximusThrax says...

Tenchi was one of the original ecchi "harem" anime and defined the genre of a (usually nice, shy, and bland) boy surrounded by exciting and attractive females. One of the most popular successors is Love Hina. Both of these series are humorous, unrealistic, and are almost guaranteed to feature at least one female appealing to the lonely otaku. These two particular harem series are also humorous, well-written, and have good enough art to appeal to other anime fans apart from lonely fanboys.

dredge dredge says...

I am recommending Love Hina if you liked Tenchi Muyo! because they both have a similar plot. They are about a guy who gets drawn into living under a roof with a group of girls and him not knowing how to cope with it.

These anime have a few things in common, though one thing really stands out: no matter how hard the male tries, he is always in the middle of mayhem whether he is responsible for it or not. These are both romantic comedies, yet they are different in many ways. I promise that if you like one then you will like the other just as much - if not more.

selachii selachii says...

One guy lives with loads of girls and has no idea what to do with any of them; Tenchi Muyo and Love Hina are definitely cut from the same comic cloth, both revolving around a reasonably normal young man and the massive disruption to his life once he meets the girl of his dreams.

Young Tenchi in TM finds an alien outlaw whose presence summons other alien princesses, all of whom end up living with him and trying to fit into his everyday life. Keitaro, in LH, has no prospects after failing to enter Tokyo U. He is drafted into the job of apartment manager by his absent grandmother Hina, having then to oversee a group of very different young ladies.

Both series have the expected fan-service, the occasional panty shot or mildly suggestive situation. But more importantly, both seem to focus on the immense power of friendship and deeper fellow feeling, even in the strangest of places. If you're interested in following the comic trials of young boys who flourish into men with the help of some unpredictable women, then both Tenchi and Hina are for you.

Iria Iria says...

If you liked watching either Love Hina or Tenchi Muyo you might try the other. In both anime there is all-around craziness when one guy ends up living with several girls.

SmugDude SmugDude says...

For Tenchi fans who enjoyed the comedy and romantic hijinx I would totally recommend Love Hina. Love Hina has a bit more of a focus on the romance aspect of things as there aren't any aliens or magical powers to uncover in its story. As a result, the series is all about romance and the comedy that ensues around it.

It's definitely must watch for any fans of Tenchi's romantic comedy angle.

gboichris gboichris says...

Both Love Hina and Tenchi Muyo are about a guy who is surrounded by a bunch of beautiful women. Also both include romance and have very funny moments. I also think that the little black cat girls are a very obvious similarity between these two series.

Jabaniz Jabaniz says...

Both LH and Tenchi Muyo have a teenage boy who is thrust into an awkward living situation with several teenage girls! While both young men try to stay focused on their previous goals, it seems almost impossible with all the new commotion in their lives. Each has the perfect recipe of adventure, comedy, and of course, teenage love.

dstarfire dstarfire says...

A classic anime theme of 1 boy living with/near/around an assortment of beautiful women that are all in love with him. Many misadventures follow.

foxhead556 foxhead556 says...

If you watched 1 out of the both you can see similarities in the characters and story.Basic plot is that a guy is stuck in a house with girls whom he has to decide who he has feelings for and most of the girls have a crush on him thus leading him into a love web.

Ranma 1/2 and Tenchi both have the similar comedic premise of a boy with way too many girlfriends.

If you like zany characters, love triangles (and sometimes love hexagons) then this anime is for you!!

Some memorable fight scenes in BOTH anime also...

Valore Valore says...

Both anime centre around a main male character who is put into a lot of delicate situations because of the people around him, weather it be because of being hit on, out of jealousy or just because they don't like him. They have sillimar comedic styles which i found hillarious and they are both extremely entertaining to watch.

animekid95 animekid95 says...

So in many ways of anime both Ranma 1/2 and Tenchi Muyo is that these are the same anime titles that has a main character which is basically a boy that gets away with too many girls just like in other anime such as Urusei Yatsura.

Both series feature a girl coming out of nowhere. Though while Tenchi Muyo focusses omre on the superpowers of that girl, Ah My Goddess! is focuused more on the romance between the main character and the girl.

LilMizzButterfly LilMizzButterfly says...

While the stories of Tenchi Muyo and AMG are rather different, I can see similarities between some characters. Skuld is a lot like Sasami. They're both light hearted and innocent and love their big sisters very much. Urd reminds me of Ryoko in appearance and in her stubbornness as well.

The plots also revolve around romance. While Tenchi Muyo tends to be funnier and less serious than Ah My Goddess, I believe you will appreciate both series.

hamletsmage hamletsmage says...

Tenchi Muyo and Ah! My Goddess have the same general theme of an average joe suddenly becoming the object of affection for a powerful, not-human girl. While the plots are a little different, the humor is definitely similar.

If you watch Anime during the 1990s both Ah My Goddess and Tenchi Muyo are different from each anime title.

Romantic comedies featuring colourful characters with deep and meaningful characterisation, that you grow to love with every episode.

Also, both are quite aged, so if you are happy with the dated animation of one, you can probably deal with the animation of the other.

If you want anime either in the 1980s or 1990s especially anime such as either Tenchi Muyo or Urusei Yatsura because both of these anime titles had a main character is with many girls with Alien elements for Tenchi Muyo is made in 1990s but for Urusei Yatsura is made in 1981 during the early 1980s.

Aydan Aydan says...

The link between these two shows is Tenchi.  As both shows are made by the same people, Pioneer, they decided to recycled Tenchi's character design (look and personality) and put in a bunch of different girls and a mecha. You'll also see some other parallels when you near the end of both shows.

SmugDude SmugDude says...

Dual is like a sillier version of Tenchi Muyo meets Evangellion. As a result, it has some great robot filled fight sequences and some laugh out loud comedic moments.

Both shows are harem comedies, with a love story intermixed. One main difference is that Tenchi doesn't pick one particular girl. There is never any doubt, however, as to Kaoru's beloved in all of AYA. Great character development, some fanservice, wonderful music, and an ongoing story line. I give both series a "Thumbs Up!"

Some characters in this series are near-perfect duplications of eachoter. Both series contain some nudity and superpowers. Photon is slightly less space-aimed and has more and weirder humor. There is a much heavier romance aspect in Tenchi Muyo! though.

Harem animes in space. If you love off the wall antics, naked girls, incredible future technology, naked girls, fast-passed action, and (of course) naked girls, you'll love both theses series. Watch the unlikely protagonist battle insurmountable odds all while girls throw themselves at him.

Both have romance in them, and also both have big quantity of humor, although Photon has it in a more wicked way. Both do treat about space, and also contai some action. If you liked one you'll most definitely like the other, just give it a try and you won't be dissapointed.

Poor Tenchi and Yukinari have their lives turned on their head when a girl from outer space arrives on their doorstep. Their harem builds up to contain every stereotyped female you can think of, and hilarity ensues.

Although Tenchi is much tamer than Girls Bravo, the harem storyline and bickering ladies is a theme running between the two. If you don't mind naked breasts, Tenchi fans should try Girls Bravo. Girls Bravo fans who can live without the excessive nakedness are sure to enjoy Tenchi Muyo.

Jdogtoocool Jdogtoocool says...

Tenchi Muyo and Girls Bravo have plenty of similarities. Both are great harems with super powered woman, and plenty of fan service to go around (Girls Bravo having sightly more an edge on the ecchi). The main male characters have a very real weakness for their female counterparts and as a result plenty of hilarious situations arise. If you liked one I'm sure you'll love the other.
