Very similar stories, the main character ends up joining the military and succeeds through dumb luck. There ends up being several women fighting for the captain's love and attention. Both space/spaceship themed.

Drahken Drahken says...

Both shows are about rather idiotic guys who unexpectedly wind up as the captain of a spaceship, constantly get into trouble, then constantly save the day through sheer luck.

Follow the adventures of each main character as they are tossed into strange hilarious situation after another and somehow find a way out of it. The cast is fun and always willing to give the clueless captain a helping hand. Both of these titles are sure to match the viewer's tastes.

While Captain Tylor is miles better than Tenchi Muyo! GXP, the two series have a lot in common. Both male protagonists are bumbling buffoons (Tylor is lazy while Seina is impossibly unlucky), but because of their uncanny ability to wiggle out of trouble, that's how the "monster of the week" episodes come together. There's also a harem element to both, and both are primarily set in outer space.

Nonextant Nonextant says...

Similar concepts, though I felt Seina Yamada in GXP was more of a clueless idiot. The strenght of Captain Tylor lies in the fact that Tylor isn't an idiot; He just holds a different than normal outlook on life and the series true strength is in keeping you guessing whether or not that is a good thing.

Both stories contain a male protagonist that goes from an unimportant nobody to playing a pivotal roll in a much larger conflict. (In one story the boy is a mechanic and in the other the boy is the unluckiest boy alive). Both stories involve side drama (and comedy) between the main character and several female character. The both also involve space/spaceships etc...

I'm not really sure what to write here. I mean both of the series felt somewhat similar, but I can't think of any good reasons why. Nonetheless, if you liked one of those two anime, you might want to give the other one a shot.

Though the tone between these two are completely different (one being deep, dark and philosophical while the other is a comedy), both involve a main male protagonist that is insecure and unimportant, though the world finds a use for them and they end up being extremly important. In both there is a main female charicter that the main character confides in and sees as a source of comfort as well as several other female characters that act as potential love interests and/or sources of conflict with the main male character.

Both Happy Lesson and Tenchi Muyo! GXP feature a teenager who lives with a harem of female teachers. Neither of the series is good (though Tenchi Muyo! GXP might be slightly better), but if you liked one of them, then you might actually like the other one too.

It is also a worthwhile comedy. There is no other anime like it. This anime is best with morning coffee. Your stress will melt away when you watch it. 1. Talking animals are freaking great. 2. Polar Bears are good at everything. Japan does loony toons better than the USA. 4. Furries always make better anime characters.
