Synopsis:

Rhiannon is the fair and gentle daughter of a village chief. Unfortunately for her, she's also exactly the sort of maiden who is needed as a sacrifice to wake the Demon King Arawn from his thousand-year slumber and is soon kidnapped for this very purpose. However, when Arawn is summoned, he decides to spare Rhiannon's life, instead killing her captor and freeing her from mind control. Taken with his kindness, Rhiannon immediately decides to marry the Demon King, making him the new village chief. All of this is bad news for Rhiannon's protective but hot-headed brother Arthur, who must now pledge his knightly service to his new Lord, Arawn. Together the three of them must journey and together they must fight, encountering new friends and new foes along the way.

Scrapped Princess

Scrapped Princess

The god Mauser delivered unto a world of magic a prophecy: if the Scrapped Princess is allowed to live, she will destroy the entire world. But the knight who was to kill her could not end the life of a newborn child, and so she lived. Fifteen years later, her adopted brother and sister have sworn to protect her, and together they travel from town to town, searching for a life she can't have.

If you liked one, you'll like the other. Both are set in a more midieval time period where there isn't technology. They are both hunted by an Empire trying to get rid of them. As I said, If you liked one, you'll definitly like the other. ;)

Shakugan no Shana

Shakugan no Shana

Sakai Yuuji thought he was a normal high school student, until one fateful day when time stopped. Watching in horror, he witnesses a monster devouring the "frozen" people around him; but luckily for Yuuji, he is saved by a sword-wielding red-headed girl that calls herself a "Flame Haze". The girl informs him that he has been dead for some time now and that his current self is merely a replacement for the human that he used be while alive. He is, she says, merely a torch whose life will come to an end when the blue flame in his chest ceases to burn. After this rude awakening, Yuuji realizes that he is able to see the flames of life in other "torches"; and after discovering that a friend of his is also a torch -- and her life is burning out faster than his – he gains the courage to live out the rest of his life with meaning. Will Yuuji be able to find his place in the world before he ceases to exist?

Not very many similarities between these two animes, but if you like fighting, romance, and magic you'll like either of these animes :)

Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online

The year is 2022, and gamers have lined up on launch day for Sword Art Online, a hotly-anticipated MMORPG that lets players connect to an immersive virtual reality world with special helmets called Nerve Gear. Kirito is one such gamer who's eager to jump back into action, having spent a great deal of time as a beta tester, and quickly becomes friends with newbie warrior Klein. But soon, Sword Art Online's 10,000 players discover that not only are they unable to log out, the only way they can return to their physical bodies is by beating the 100-level tower's final boss - that is, if their HP doesn't drop to zero first, for death in the game means death in the real world. Now, with no one else to turn to, Kirito and the other participants must survive the game as best they can – some forming guilds, others ruthlessly leaving their peers behind, and many tragically falling by the wayside or to the merciless monsters populating the lands...

The animes Tears to Tiara and Sword Art Online are both one of my favorites! They both are about fighting with swords, not with stupid guns, with both a (in my eyes) good love story. Also, I think that both animes have similar characters. An example: Kirito from Sword Art Online and Arthur from Tears to Tiara. The both have a very strong will and they both are willing to die for someone else.

Both of these are medieval fantasy anime with plenty of battles filled with swords and magic. Although Tales of Vesperia is much better, the shows share a similar feel and fans of one might enjoy the other.

The Sacred Blacksmith

The Sacred Blacksmith

Cecily Cambell just wants to be a Knight and protect her home like her father and grandfather before her. There's just one problem: she’s incompetent! During a fight with a crazed swordsman, Cecily’s cherished blade breaks; and just as she’s  about to be cut down, a man named Luke comes to her rescue wielding a katana - a blade unlike any Cecily has seen before. Together they must ensure that the Demon Sword Aria doesn’t fall into the wrong hands, and Cecily alone must prove herself worthy of her very own katana.

Both series take place in a medieval fantasy setting, have some similar emotional tones, and feature an abundance of attractive female characters. The plots are similar in that they take a while to develop for both series but ultimately the main characters must work together to overcome a great evil which is bigger than them. The roles played by magical swords in both shows is interesting as well. I personally prefered Tears To Tiara for its plot, but The Sacred Blacksmith dishes out some neat action scenes, is beautifully animated and offers slightly more in terms of ecchi delight. If you liked one show and are looking for something else in the fantasy genre with a great female cast, definitely give the other a try.
