Nurarihyon no Mago

Nurarihyon no Mago

It is said that the spirit who stood at the helm of the night parade of a hundred demons was the supreme commander of all monsters and lord of Pandemonium, Nurarihyon. Though he has the ability to communicate with, and command youkai he has no intention of succeeding his grandfather as head of the Nura clan, instead choosing to live a normal human life. However, with his family and aides all waiting for him to fully accept the succession and his ‘Night Rikuo’ alter-ego determined to become the next leader, can the young schoolboy fight his fate as a Nura to lead the night parade?

This series reminded me of tactics because it has a (semi)human living together with a bunch of demons. They both have some lurking evil in the background(tactics way more in the background) and the main character who tries to live with these demons(Tactics wants more of them, while Mago wants to get rid of them)

Yougen Kaisha and Tactics seem shockingly similar as far as the ghost/demon hunting aspect, but they also are a mix of comedy and drama. Tactics is definitely more serious and dark, while Yougen Kaisha is more of a random comedy. Regardless, the first thing I thought of when I saw Tactics was Yougen Kaisha... so if you liked one, you'd probably like the other.

Rental Magica

Demons Exorcism: if you're fan of this theme, then both series will answer your expectations. while Rental Magica events appear in the modern world, tactics is traditional Japan time.

Both have an awful similar plot. IE, there's a problem with a supernatural creature/phenomena and some guys are going to fix it. Although tactics usually spends more time on one problem..

Anyway, if you liked one, check out the other.

Spice and Wolf

Spice and Wolf

Since long ago, the wolf goddess Holo has honored a contract to bless the rural village of Pasloe with fertile harvests; and in return she has been celebrated and worshipped by the villagers. But as mankind advances, the people have begun to take command of nature for themselves and have made their own god to worship. Holo finds that she is paid little more than lip service, if not outright mocked; and considering the contract annulled, she takes human form and enlists the aid of a passing merchant, Kraft Lawrence, to return to her home in the snowy forests to the north. As they journey together, Kraft finds that he has plenty to learn from this capricious god, and she from him as well.

Spice and Wolf and Tactics feature the relationship between god-like creatures and humans that befriend them. In both cases there is a backdrop of folklore that is established in an historical setting, Medieval Europe in the first place and 19th century Japan in the second. The unique interaction between a human lead and a supernatural creature creates a bond between the two as they must cooperate in order to succeed. Making money also features in both series, being absolutely vital to the plot of Spice and Wolf.
