Synopsis:

The year is 2022, and gamers have lined up on launch day for Sword Art Online, a hotly-anticipated MMORPG that lets players connect to an immersive virtual reality world with special helmets called Nerve Gear. Kirito is one such gamer who's eager to jump back into action, having spent a great deal of time as a beta tester, and quickly becomes friends with newbie warrior Klein. But soon, Sword Art Online's 10,000 players discover that not only are they unable to log out, the only way they can return to their physical bodies is by beating the 100-level tower's final boss - that is, if their HP doesn't drop to zero first, for death in the game means death in the real world. Now, with no one else to turn to, Kirito and the other participants must survive the game as best they can – some forming guilds, others ruthlessly leaving their peers behind, and many tragically falling by the wayside or to the merciless monsters populating the lands...

Accel World OVA

Accel World OVA

The Black Legion members are enjoying a rare opportunity to relax – that is, everyone except for Kuroyukihime. Lately the Black King has become more and more concerned with Haruyuki's unexpected aloofness, and what's worse, she and the gang soon discover that someone in the school network is assaulting students' online avatars and stealing their accessories. Can the Black Legion expose the troublemaker, and will Kuroyukihime be able to resolve her relationship with Haruyuki?

Then, with the help of his friends, Haruyuki must find a way to drop some weight fast or be forced to take the school health improvement program - which means losing his chance to participate in important Accel World territory battles. On Sky Raker's proposal, everyone goes to a special mixed-gender hot spring to help him get healthier, but Kuroyukihime begins to feel uneasy towards Haruyuki getting slimmer...

they are both the same consept in a way they are both about a game were you are the player almost phiscly and you have to clear the game  adding that they are by the same writer

misthero

Sword Art Online is actually a Prequel for Accel World, so that's a given that they're so alike.

Guilty Crown

Guilty Crown

In the near future, the outbreak of a terrible disease called the Apocolypse Virus places Japan under the military rule of a global organization called the GHQ - a group tasked with checking the spread of the virus and administering vaccinations. Apathetic high school student Shuu Ouma lives in Tokyo, spending his days editing videos and trying to be left alone. But things change when he meets the beautiful pop idol, Inori, who is on the run from GHQ soldiers. While trying to save her from her captors, he acquires a mysterious power called the Void Gene that allows him to pull items or weapons from anyone under the age of seventeen. Now, Shuu must decide whether to join the efforts of the well-funded radical terrorist group "Funeral Parlor" and fight against the GHQ, or shrug off his newfound power and resume his normal life - assuming that either the GHQ or Funeral Parlor's charismatic leader, Gai, will let him.

Vague

Both have main characters that are "normal" people who get caught up in something way bigger than themselves and obtain some form of unearthly power to help them save the world. So what if one of them is in the real world and the other is in a game world? They have a similar style and feel; if you like one...I'm not going to say you'll like the other...but I bet you will.

herosrequiem

Both contain a hero who goes on an epic journey that involves self-discovery, love, and awesome fights, and they'll both make you cry if you really get into your anime

Kirua

Both SAO and HXH greed island Ova are about a boy going inside a video where if you die in the game you die for real.

Nallack

Both are about younger main characters with incredible fighting potential inside a VR MMO. The mechanics and rules of these worlds are often very different to the reality that the characters are used to and what you would expect when watching them.

Mirai Nikki TV

Yuki is a disaffected middle school boy who has no dreams or goals in life; in fact, the only thing he has is his diary. Writing down everything he observes and documenting every thought, the young boy uses it as an outlet for his imagination. One morning, however, Yuki wakes up to find his cell phone filled with diary entries for the next ninety days. Thinking nothing of it, he continues his morning until he begins to realize that everything on his phone is rapidly coming to pass, and it isn't just mere coincidence. Now, Yuki suddenly finds himself thrust into a survival game against other future diary owners to become the new Lord of Time.

seine

In both series, the protagonists are playing a game in which they would have to win in order to live.

hannes33

Since the main topic of both animes is the topic of a survival game. So if you are a fond of those there is a great possibility that you like the other anime too.

However mirai nikki focuses more on horror and psychological elements the SAO does.

One day, without warning, a huge hole appeared in the world and demons emerged, ready for battle. Assuming that the demon king sealed by a hero 1,000 years ago must have escaped, the king of the land set forth a decree: the hero’s descendents must defeat evil once more! For Alba, one such would-be hero, this journey will be anything but ordinary given his growing collection of bizarre and wacky companions. Alongside young demon Ruki, age-inappropriate Ruldolf, tentacle-fighter witch Zwei and a host of others, Alba will get arrested, play dodgeball, travel across the land, and least importantly, learn the truth about the hole in the world!

lonerinthecorner

They are both about a sword wielding hero who is set out to battle monsters. Both reminded me of Role-Playing Games.

However Senyuu is more on a comedy side while SAO is more serious.
