Both SAO and HXH greed island Ova are about a boy going inside a video where if you die in the game you die for real.

Nallack Nallack says...

Both are about younger main characters with incredible fighting potential inside a VR MMO. The mechanics and rules of these worlds are often very different to the reality that the characters are used to and what you would expect when watching them.

I recommend anyone who has watched Bleach to watch Sword Art Online and Blue Exorcist. The reason why is because they both have the hero/heroine. Ichigo is the main character in Bleach and tries to protect everyone. Kirito/Kazuto is the main character in Sword Art Online and tries to protect everyone. And Rin is the main character in Blue Exorcist and tries to protect everyone. Good animes overall.

Everybody loves a badass, someone who can really get things done, much like Kirito Ichigo Kurosaki is that man. PLUS you get to watch them mature.

I mean whats better than watching your favorite badass become EVEN MORE BADASS. So get going watch. Watch. WATCH.

They're both similar, however I have my issues with both of these anime series - SAO's beginning was so promising, and collapsed with Asuna's bad-assness disappearing. The Asterisk War, also promising, had just too much fanservice. SAO's second season started off strongly, then tapered off into a gross mess that I gave up on. I'm excited to see the second season of Asterisk!

WhiteCubesMania WhiteCubesMania says...

Idk, Gakusen Toshi Asterisk and SAO are very similar, but at the same time they can be very different. I felt a familiar atmosphere while watching this. Julis is a nice version of Asuna, but Ayato is not better than Kirito imho. He is not bad, but I'm just a Kirito-fag, don't mind me lol.

So, if you liked SAO you will probably like this show too. But if you didn't you might as well give it a try, since it has less fanservice.

Both shows feature a romance that starts inside a game, and both revolve around the theme of blurring of the lines between real and virtual life. The characters are different ages, and the main problem in the story is totally different in each one, but both are definitely worth a try for fans of the other.

They are both about gaming, MMOs, RPGs, romance and life experiences seen in both of these animes.

Fate/stay night

Fate/stay night

The Holy Grail War is a battle between seven magicians who each summon a mythical hero to fight for their cause. Shirou, a twice orphaned high school boy, had so little magical talent that his foster father did not bother teaching him about the war and its meaning. Thanks to that lack of foresight, Shirou finds himself in a bit of a pinch when he accidentally summons a hero of the strongest class, and is sucked into the fray. The Grail grants the winner any wish they have. But driven by an unyielding sense of justice and self-sacrifice, for what will Shirou fight?

2 noble swordsman, unassuming but grow to be heroes. Heroes that you will love for both are pure in heart

Closedbookeyes Closedbookeyes says...

I agree, because they both are trapped in something that they can die in. Kirito (Sword Art Online) is trapped in a game, that if he dies, he dies in real life. Fate/stay night is about a Holy Grail war, and if you die, then your just dead. Masters get servants to help them fight and it can only be one master and servant left standing, and the last one gets the Holy Grail, which is said to grant one of your wishes.

He saves a princess and her followers upon his arrival from the sky, when he lands squarely upon the leader of the group threatening them. He ends up joining the princess's group as he searches for a way back to his own world.

First off I want to say that I overenjoyed the first half of SAO but can't say the same for the second half. I am not really into fantasy anime but I totally got sucked into SAO's virtual world. I liked the drama and the romance the first 14 eps had to offer. The second half was not so much to my liking cause the believability factor vanished for me after that point. I know that there are a few more anime with the same premise (virtual game world turned into reality) but the only fantasy anime that came to mind while watching SAO was Elemental Gelade. Perhaps a bit more childish than SAO but I think that if you liked the "hero saves girl in a fantasy world" premise, you could give Elemental Gelade a chance.
