Both Strawberry and Maria-sama are school-based, and both have older and younger sister relations going on. As well, in both the younger sister has an interest in the older and much more elegant "onee-sama" - SP's Nagisa and Shizuma, and Marimite's Yumi and Sachiko. Let's not forget about the shoujo ai either.

chloe2110 chloe2110 says...

Strawberry Panic is Maria-sama ga Miteru to a greater degree. Both are heartwarming works that can touch the audience if you can relate to them. (:

melonjuice melonjuice says...

Both series explore the relationships between girls in prestigious and private catholic schools, and the "onee-sama/imouto" system which are similarly portrayed.

Marimite's character designs are drawn with a distinct shoujo manga style while Strawberry Panic's resemble regular shonen anime. The character development for Marimite is very good while Strawberry Panic is slightly more light-hearted. If you liked one, you'll most likely enjoy the other

tinalax tinalax says...

The plot of Strawberry Panic and Maria-sama ga Miteru traces how the relationship between a high-energy girl and a mature, admired girl, develops. Although many characters differ, all of them compliment each other and make their respective series enjoyable to watch. If you loved watching one couple, you'd surely like the other.

Kyjin Kyjin says...

These two shows, while both focusing on the relationship between an older and younger student, each have something to offer a viewer. Marimite is more dramatic and character driven, while Strawberry Panic is much more comedic and fun. With similar storyline themes yet different approaches, these two series complement each other nicely and should defintely be viewed by a fan of either.

Nocturnalgloria Nocturnalgloria says...

Marimite and Strawberry Panic are very alike. Set in an all girls school in which a group of students is highly admired, they both tell the story of the growing relationship between an ordinary girl and an extremely gifted yet aloof older girl. Both have yuri undertones and relay on slice of life events to set the mood. With this said, it should be taken into consideration that Marimite is more subdued than its fanservice oriented counterpart in which the yuri is much more overt.

hyperbole1729 hyperbole1729 says...

Girls-only catholic school; that's where both series take place. They both focus on the romantic relations between the students. One big difference is that Strawberry Panic is much more explicit on the shoujo-ai whereas Maria-sama ga Miteru kind of leaves it to your imagination.

cassiesheepgirl cassiesheepgirl says...

Both of these series focus on the development extremely close relationships between high school girls. Both series are also quite romanticised and full of heightened emotions. If you enjoy this sort of content in one of these then you are likely to enjoy the other.

Omurqi Omurqi says...

These anime really are two of a kind. Both Maria-sama ga Miteru and Strawberry Panic are set in a catholic all-girls academy. Standing and popularity are of much importance, and both shows have a similar kind of relationship going on between the main characters. Innerschool politics and shoujo-ai are a large part of both anime, although MariMite has more of the first, and Strawberry Panic more of the second. Enjoyed the flair one of these titles had? Then definitely check out the other!

Galadriel Galadriel says...

both Strawberry Panic and Marimite feature shoujo-ai/yuri aspects and a warm and sometimes dramatic romance aspect. While Strawberry Panic feature a very serious shoujo-ai relationship between the main female protagonists the relationships in Marimite are more like sister x sister or kouhai x senpai. Even so if you enjoyed watching one of this two shows then be sure to check the other one as well.

Gavia Gavia says...

Even if we look beyond the fact that the scene were Nagisa and Shizuma first meets is a very obvious tribute to Marimite, there are plenty of other parallels that can be drawn between the two shows.

Mostly, both series' main focus is on interactions between girls in sempai/kohai relationships. Both series also contain shoujo-ai elements within these relationships. (Strawberry Panic more obviously so.)

In Marimite the characters are more developed with more emotional relationships shared between them, while the pairs in SP share more physically intimate moments.

darkqueen33 darkqueen33 says...

if you liked strawberry panic you would love this show. It is in a all grils boearding school also and has themes of a younger female and a older female. the only real difference here is that strawberry panic had yuri kisses where maria-same ga miterus is more just hinting that kissing and other things were happening. Everything happened off screen and was left to the views own interpretation and imagination in maria-sama ga miteru

Otoboku: Maidens Are Falling For Me!

Otoboku: Maidens Are Falling For Me!

There’s no denying that Mizuho is beautiful. Normally that might be a bit of a disadvantage seeing as he is an average sort of boy who enjoys sports and games. However, his beloved grandfather has just passed away, and the will includes a strange request; his grandfather wants him to become closer to his mother's memory by attending the same all-girls academy she did for a semester. Obviously he can't hide his gender from the teachers of the school; so he will need their approval, but he also can't expose his gender in front of his fellow students. With the help of his child-hood friend Mariya, his own natural beauty, and just a little bit of luck, Mariya may just be able to fool his fellow students! Considering the turn of events, there may be more to his grandfather's dying request than meets the eye...

The two basically have the same story line, which is why I dropped Strawberry Panic -- I had already seen OBK, and it's shorter.  If you like shojo romance, though, SP is probably more in-depth and emotional.

prettypisces314 prettypisces314 says...

In both SP and Otome the setting is the same: an all girls' school. Both shows have the basic same theme as well: girls falling for girls.

gerdo gerdo says...

Both Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru and Strawberry Panic is about the protagonist who is a transfer student to an all girls school and her/his new life there. In both series the protagonist early gets the higlights directed towards him/her for various reasons.

Though there is alot of differences of the series I am very sure that anyone who loved watching either Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru or Strawberry Panic will love the other series. Both series with it's own different backgrounds and turns makes them both uniqe.

I recomend anyone who loved Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru or Strawberry Panic to watch the other series couse I guarantee you will love it.

risuta risuta says...

Otome wa Boku Ni Koishiteru and Strawberry Panic are shoujo anime with a slice of yuri. In both anime, the protagonist is a transfer student to a prestigious academy who makes quite the impression to the other students. Both have to do with girl's love and issues such as friendship, bitter memories and relationships.

If you have watched one of them, I suggest you watch the other one as well.

TotallyLovable TotallyLovable says...

There are beautiful girls all around! And no wonder - the all-girls academies are paradise for your heart! But to be a transfer student is not so easy. You have to get to know everything and everyone. That's what happens in both Strawberry Panic and Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru. The both series are considered shoujo-ai (although I don't quite agree), so the fans of the genre might be in ecstasies! Another thing in common is that the main characters have someone close with whom they can share all their worries and insecurities. There are many difficulties to overcome, but finally both Nagisa and Mizuho find their place despite all of the previous misunderstandings and confusion.

bellatrix4574 bellatrix4574 says...

Girl loves Girl! Well for the most part. Strawberry Panic and Otome wa Boku ni Koishiteru are both extremly beautifully drawn shows with lucious detail! Even though Otome technically involves a cross dressing boy its still extremly similar to Stawberry. Even the school girl uniforms are similar! If you couldn't get enough of one see the other, both will leave you with a happy can-do feeling!

darkqueen33 darkqueen33 says...

this was a cute boearding schoool show just like strawberry panic. But since the main character was actually a boy it took away from the whole yuri/shoujo-ai theme.

Both Kasimasi and Strawberry Panic are true epitomes of yuri anime. Both shows have a protagonist (Hazumu and Nagisa respectively) who is the clear target/center of the love of more than one girl (Tomari + Yasuna and Tamao + Shizuma respectively). One difference to be noted is the fact that not a single guy is present (ever) in Strawberry Panic, whilst one guy falls in love with Hazumu in Kasimasi. This doesn't take away from the yuri nature of Kasimasi.

Strawberry Panic follows two *stories* of different girls (Hikari and Nagisa). This makes it seem as there are two shows in one. If you like one of the shows, it is highly probably that you'll like the other, so give it a try.

Both Kasimasi Girl Meets Girl and Strawberry Panic are romantic Yuri shows with a main heroine who is the love interest for several more characters.

scizorg45 scizorg45 says...

Both anime are yuri to the core! In both anime, the main character doesn't start out as a girl who digs other girls. In both anime, this resolve quickly gets taken away(in one by a major event, the other is more subtle). They both have the main character choose the one they love.

If you liked one, check out the other.

Both Strawberry Panic and Kannazuki no Miko incorporate shoujo-ai/yuri as a main theme. The couples (in both series) have something intense about their relationship that is interesting and enticing. Not a lot of shoujo-ai anime have good side plots and other elements going on at the same time, but both of these do. They each have their individual storylines and settings, but basically cover the same good qualities the other has.

AnimeGirl1990 AnimeGirl1990 says...

Strawberry Panic and Kannazuki no Miko both share shoujo-ai/yuri as a main theme. But have different storylines and settings. Both of Strawberry Panic and Kannazuki no Miko two main characters share a lot of similarities. However, unlike Strawberry Panic's main plot that focuses it's self only round girl/girl relationships, Kannazuki no Miko's main plot focuses on more then one relationship and also has another story to focus on. But all in all, if you liked Strawberry Panic, you should look into watching Kannazuki no Miko.

Both Strawberry Panic and Gakuen Heaven are about a newcomer to a famous academy, who develops a special relationship with the chairman (or étoile) through various events and problematic situations. It can also be interesting to compare the slight differences between similar stories that are shonen ai and shojo ai.

Sangokagome Sangokagome says...

Gakuen Heaven is merely Strawberry Panic with women instead of men! With lots of lovely ladies and gentlemen all trying their best to get the man character's attention (and with the mysterious instances in each series that hint towards somehting more), these two series go together like a hand and glove!

KThxBye KThxBye says...

Simoun and Strawberry Panic are both about a young, enthusiastic, outgoing newcomer entering a world that she doesn't entirely understand but wants to be apart of nonetheless. They are surrounded by numerous other girls where they establish many close, life long relationships. Also, the group of girls in both series has a leader of sorts, a well renowned and highly respected person of great skill and incredible abilities. The leader appears cold and distant, marred by a great tragedy in her past that has left her damaged. Over time and though a series of fateful events she warms up to the newcomer and their relationship blossoms.

Though the two are incredibly different in setting, Simoun and Strawberry Panic ultimately have the same plot fundamentals while not being boringly similar. If you like one then you will most assuredly enjoy the other.

Fireaxe Fireaxe says...

Here's an other REC for the shoujo-ai fans out there. Those two shows are conceptually pretty different (Simoun is a  Fantasy-Sci Fi show, while Strawberry Panic is more of a School-Life Comedy/Drama), but the characters and the relationships that bind them together are similar in a lot of ways. First, both series feature an all-female cast (we could argue over Simoun being all-female or no, but that's purely technical). Secondly, both series deal with a group of girls the different kinds of love that they feel for each others. Jealousy, unrequited love, deep love, you'll find all these themes in both series.

So if you happen to have a thing for shoujo-ai, or simply liked one of those two shows, I'm pretty sure you'll like the other one too!

Very different in terms of story, both Koihime Musou and Strawberry shares one thing in common which is like the most important aspect and that is the shoujo-ai aspect. While Strawberry Panic concentrates on a serious yuri relationship, Koihime Musou uses it more for Fan Service, so nothing serious just romantic comedy. If you like one of them then you might like the other one as well.
