Escaflowne

Escaflowne

Hitomi was just a normal high school girl, until she was taken by the mysterious Van Fanel and dropped into a world of romance, magic and giant sword-wielding armor suits! Now Van, pilot of the famed armor suit Escaflowne; and Hitomi, whose hobby of predicting the future just became a frightening reality, must work together and fight the advanced technology of Zaibach: a force who want to shape Gaea to their visions of "peace". Follow Hitomi in her struggles against both these forces who seek to conquer this world, and her own confused heart.

Take to another world? To be come a hero? To fullfill the needs of the people... The girl named Hitmomi is put into the same situation as Claude from Star Ocean was. But since she is a girl she needs her own hero... Hitomi is taken to a totally different world and needs to find her way through many hardships just like Claude has to do. Star Ocean and Escaflowne is really alike except that the roles of the main character is turned around. In Escaflowne there is a girl brought to another world instead of a guy. Escaflowne is filled with romanitc moments and magic. Not as much as in Star Ocean but still alot. Be sure to check it out if you liked Star Ocean.

If you did enjoy Star Ocean then you should love Vision of Escaflowne. both got this story about a person how travels back to a fantasy wold and meet the love of their life, and join some friends on a mision to save the fantasy world. the only different between them is that in Star Ocena it is about a boy that travels back to the fanatsy world and in escaflowne it is a girl.

Dropped amidst a fantasy world, the main character needs to find a way back to his/her own world. But before leaving they must first solve the problems in this world and.. the problems in their own heart.

Arc the Lad

Arc the Lad

This is a story that follows Elk, a boy blessed by the spirit of fire. When Elk was a child his village was destroyed by a dark force that now seeks to plunge all humanity into chaos, by releasing the great darkness that is sealed within the Ark of the Spirits. Elk, along with Arc the chosen hero of the spirits and the brave crew of the silver noah, fight for the hope of all mankind.

It is quite easy to tell these two animes have relations to a game. The fighting scenes show this quit obviously. The progress of the anime is also pretty alike (though a bit more quest-like in Star Ocean). With about the same mixture of clich├ęs, action, RPG and romance i keep thinking these two are more alike then they first seem.

Another video game-based anime, Star Ocean follows the sometimes predictable plot of hero against impossible odds shared by Arc the Lad. Each one has its own tie-ins to the franchise that spawned it, but works equally well as a stand-alone project that is entertaining and action packed.

InuYasha

InuYasha

Kagome is a normal high school girl who falls into a well, transporting her back in time to the feudal era. Upon her arrival to this world, she mercifully unleashes Inuyasha, a half demon. As if this isn't enough, she also discovers that she is the bearer of the Shikon no Tama, a jewel of great spiritual power, a jewel which has just shattered into a million shards. Now, along with Miroku the priest, Sango the demon hunter, and Shippou the mischievious fox-demon, they must set out to find the Shikon shards and defeat the evils of the demon Naraku.

In both anime the relationship is between the male protagonist and the female lead. In both cases the two are really nervous for having feelings for each other and can never really tell the other one on how they feel.  Both have an epic journey to them and have good combat scenes to them.

AstralKnight

There are epic battle scenes between two rivals in both, as well as a love triangle and the lead male protecting the lead female. They both also feature scenes of humour and comic relief and a "love triangle". There is also the fact that Kagome as well as Claude don't fit in in the world that they have travelled to. The setting is also similar between the two and both include sword wielders, magic and a jewel (Shikon no Tama/ Rena's pendant). I love them both!

Tales of Eternia

Tales of Eternia

Reid, Farah, Meredy and Keel are on a quest to save the twin worlds of Celestia and Inferia from 'The Grand Fall' – a scenario in which both worlds would collide into each other. But when Reid is kidnapped by a bounty hunter called Marone, one thing leads to another and the four friends end up stranded on the tropical island of Belcarnu! And when Keel discovers some uncharted ruins on the island which seem to have been built by the Celestians, it becomes clear that there is more of a mystery to the island than meets the eye. Will the four be able to escape the island and prevent The Grand Fall?

Both Star Ocean EX and Tales of Eternia's stories revolve around their respective video game. Although the general story line is different, the general theme of a simple task turning into some horrible adventure is found in both. Worlds colliding, whether physical or metaphorical, can be found in them.

Canal

Star Ocean EX and Tales of Eternia are based on video games where the main characters take on many quests with the purpose of saving the world they live in. However while Star Ocean EX goes halfway through the game Tales of Eternia revolves around a side story of the game.

Dragon Drive

Dragon Drive

Throughout his life, Oozora Reiji has always been rather half-hearted. Never able to fully dedicate himself to anything, he lives a sloppy day-to-day existence, until his classmate Yukino introduces him to Dragon Drive -- a virtual reality game. While Reiji garners a passion for the game, it would seem that its founders have other things in mind than simple entertainment. During a special training, Reiji discovers that Dragon Drive is more than just a game, and now must fight for the survival of the dragons as well as all of mankind!

Dragon Drive and Star Ocean EX are must-see anime. They both have a similar story line: the main characters are transported to another world and must fight to both protect it and return to their own world.
