A young woman quietly falls to the earth, escorted by a solitary crow. This sort of dream, as many other before have dreamed, comes just before being reborn as a Haibane, a charcoal-winged angel. On the outskirts of the walled-in city lies Old Home, a haven for Haibane to study, live, and learn, while waiting for their chance to ascend to the heavens and escape the confines of their new world. Rakka is the newest inhabitant of Old Home who wants nothing more than to remember her past and discover the secrets of her kind. Together with Reki, Kuu and plenty of other new friends, Rakka will laugh, explore, and search for the meaning of their existence in the process.
Both sola and Haibane Renmei are based on powerful stories that begin as mysteries to the viewer, only to get developed and revealed towards the end. Though these two anime are very different in settings and themes, they share a serenity in the delivery of the plot. Though both are initially slow, they will keep you intrigued and guessing til their final episodes.
Sakai Yuuji thought he was a normal high school student, until one fateful day when time stopped. Watching in horror, he witnesses a monster devouring the "frozen" people around him; but luckily for Yuuji, he is saved by a sword-wielding red-headed girl that calls herself a "Flame Haze". The girl informs him that he has been dead for some time now and that his current self is merely a replacement for the human that he used be while alive. He is, she says, merely a torch whose life will come to an end when the blue flame in his chest ceases to burn. After this rude awakening, Yuuji realizes that he is able to see the flames of life in other "torches"; and after discovering that a friend of his is also a torch -- and her life is burning out faster than his – he gains the courage to live out the rest of his life with meaning. Will Yuuji be able to find his place in the world before he ceases to exist?
Shana could be from the same stable of manga ideas as sola, in that both male leads aren't really all they seem to be. There's a deep seated similarity that can't be divulged without revealing plot. Both anime deal with strangely other-worldly women, be they vampires, demons, or demon-slayers. Shana has substantially more action, however.
Average, boring, and nothing special; this is how Shiratori Kuu feels about herself and her life as a high school student in Academia. On what begins as any other day, Kuu's life is spun upside down when a new student transfers to her class. As soon as she sees his face, she is astonished, for this is no ordinary boy – he looks just like the prince she has dreamt of for so long! He extends a hand to her and repeats the words she has somehow heard before, "Lets go... Together." But it is never that easy, is it? A world that seemed so dull is now torn apart by a whirlwind of love and hate, and the conflict that plagues all those involved.
Love is sacrificial; no matter how sensational that sounds, anime like sola and Kyoshiro to Towa no Sora make it more realistic. They show that sometimes, you can't have it all and that romance is not all the teenybopper type. They are both relatively sad, magical and short series.
There a lot of elements similar to both, like how the ending was executed. Also, there is the event that in a love triangle, there will always be one left behind. The pacing is also very similar along with the animation.
Murao Mima has created a robot daughter named Key, but after raising her for a very short time, Mima dies, leaving behind cryptic messages telling Key how she can become human. Key must struggle alone to learn the harsh lessons of life and search for the 'key' to her own dream: the power of 30,000 friends to make her a real human girl.
Yukino and Kanade are twin sisters who now share a room at their new school in Tokyo. Ever since they were little, the pair has been exceptionally close – perhaps even a bit too close for siblings when eyes are turned away. But soon a girl named Sakuya, who often tails the two, begins to grow closer to Yukino; and after an alleged confession that she hears about, Kanade begins to get worried that something is going on behind her back. Can the three of the girls keep their relationships with each other on stable ground, or will jealousy and heartache come crashing down on them?
Well, both anime are really beautifuly done, they contain humour, romance and slice of life (sola has a bit more fantasy). The animation is outstanding and the plot is addicting. Both anime have lovable characters that never get boring. I think they both are a really good watch.
