Both are very similar in their themes; where young girls are made to use high tech flying gear to fight against formidable enemies. The story lines differ though and there is a lot of "panties" in strike witches - a bit annoying but still watchable!

Loligirls can save the world! Thats what both shows are about, even though thats about it.

While in Sky Girls, you get some constantly panty showing girls riding a mecha in order to defeat evil monsters, you get some as loud as an airplane magical pantygirls in Strike Witches.

So I bet if you liked one show, you'll fall in love with the other! And if you dislike one, you'll surely hate the other anime even more. I did.

Did you like the idea of half the world's population being defeated by worms? Then how about half the world's population defeated by Genjyu? Anime lovers would definitely like Gunparade March if they like the idea of replacing the cuteness of Sky Girls with priceless romance. There are wonderful mecha battles to get excited about as well, but other than that, Gunparade March would suit anyone who is looking for mecha and romance.

Strawberry Marshmallow

Strawberry Marshmallow

Ahh, the life of an elementary school student. Though Chika, Matsuri, Miu and Ana should focus on schoolwork, they’d much rather have fun instead. Whether it’s outings with 20-year-old-chain-smoker Noboe, holding each other hostage or learning to speak English with Ana’s foreign-born skills, there’s never a dull moment in the life of the girls. Join this cute quartet as they do cute (and often devious) things in cute and quirky ways!

If you take Sky Girls and take away all the mecha battles, what would you get? Ichigo Mashimaro. Although there are no mecha battles or the destruction of alien species in IM, there is a tremendous amount of cuteness. If you want to move away from the battle-hardened storyline that is Sky Girls and place yourself in a clueless school-set world with cute characters, then Ichigo Mashimaro would suit you.

While Demonbane does not share anything with Sky Girls in plot, it does retain a similar feel as far as mood and tone. Demonbane is definitely the more comedic of the two, though, and I enjoyed it considerably more as well.

Like watching girls beat up baddies and save the world? If for some astonishing reason you liked Sky Girls, try out the far superior Stellvia. It also follows a few heroines (and heroes) as they struggle to save the universe; however, it also has MUCH better character development, animation, story, and everything else.
