Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High is a school for the extremely wealthy or, in Haruhi's case, the extremely talented. But no amount of talent will help when Haruhi accidentally drops an eight million yen vase in a music room. The vase was the property of Ouran High School Host Club, a group of attractive young men who, for a fee, provide their time and affections for their lovesick clientele: the female students. Fascinated by this strange new specimen, a poor and clumsy commoner, they force Haruhi to work for them until the debt is repaid; but they get a lot more than they bargained for...

First off, I don't understand why Skip Beat! wasn't tagged with a "Revenge" tag. Hello mods, that's the main reason Kyoko gets into show business! And the premise of the good first half of the anime.

That said, Ouran and Skip Beat! are both about exceptionally strong women in unlikely circumstances. Both series have gorgeous art and a cast of strapping young bishes to oogle.

silverfur

this is a treat for those who enjoy major laughing moments...i m sure u'll have a great time watching both these animes.

SkyBlue

Both animes have talented, spunky main female characters.  The are both surrounded by a cast of "pretty" boys who prove to be more complex then they seemed.  All in all, the character development of both animes is the driving force of show.

eaper

The comedy, and even the romance, in each of these series are similar and extremely well done. If you liked one you're sure to feel the same about the other.

Foxfairy

I believe the humor in both shows would appeal to the same audence. Both have a female lead who is a "fish out of water" type of character who has to change herself to fit in, and is also there for kind of the wrong reason. In Ouran High School Host Club she has disguided herself as a boy, and she is stuck there to pay off the a debt. In Skip Beat! she changes her looks to make it in show business to get revenge on an Ex-boy. But these shows share the same over the top emotional humor, and suggestive situations that lead to misunderstanding.

Kimi ni Todoke

Kimi ni Todoke

Sawako Kuronuma is just like any other high school girl who wants to make friends and be useful. The only problem is she bears a worrying resemblance to Sadako from 'The Ring!' Because of her reputation, people are not only terrified of her, but small dogs even bark in fear at her presence; in fact, the only person in school who will talk to her is the lively class hottie, Kazehaya. As the pair spends more time together, Kazehaya slowly begins to bring Sawako out of her shell and soon their feelings for each other develop further. Though with her crippling insecurities, lack of social skills, and a series of cruel rumors and misunderstandings, it seems that Sawako's dream of a normal life won’t be quite so easy to obtain.

Both anime are funny and sweet, and feature a girl who is having troubles with love. They are on a journey of self discovery and making friends for the first time. They both have to deal with new enemies and problems, and they both have to learn how to understand their own feelings and how to get those feelings across to other people. Both anime also have a mix of girly and scary imagery, and are both really funny.

yukichii

At first the main characters of two series look opposite however as the story countinues and as we learn about them more, both characters lack knowledge of their own feelings.  They discover their own feelings with the help of very well built side characters. Both series make a positive impact after watching.

Each of these series center around a girl that hasn't really had friends and a lot of trouble with love (and the guy has trouble, too, despite being extremely popular with women). Each of these series have a lot of well played comedy and character development. If you enjoy one, you're sure to enjoy the other.

KiyoneSaya

These anime have very similar art style. Both Sawako and the main protogonist in Skip Beat! begin to have a change in personality. While truly gaining friends and finding that they may have feelings for the guy helping them along their way to reaching their goal.

I think that people who like either Uta no Prince-sama, or Skip Beat! would like the other. I really like both! They both have a female leading character who's very driven in what she does. I've only watched two episode of Prince-sama, but it's really good! I was surprised at how much I like it! I definately recommend Uta no Prince-sama!

Skip Beat!'s main character has tremendous acting skills and may seem like an underdog at first, but when she displays her acting, it shocks everyone. Her acting really reaches into people's souls and seem like something very real, similar to Haruka's talent in songwriting.

MoonlightMeika

Both Uta Pri and Skip Beat follow their main character (Haruka and Kyoko, respectively) as they build the foundation to their future career. Haruka and Kyoko both had slight set backs at the beginning but managed to stick wtih their dream and their efforts have paid off. It's also very hard for anyone in either series to hate the main character; they both have the unique ability to draw everyone in.

Therefore, (as cliche as this is) I believe if you enjoyed one, you would also enjoy the other.

daysie1234

When I first started watching UtaPri it reminded me sooo much of Skip Beat! There's the main femaie who is seen as an underdog in show business/music industry, main male who's a jerk in the beginning but warms up to her and who is so unbelievably famous that it seems like they are worlds apart.

cahbayb

They are both about idols with a female lead who has great qualitites that everyone loves and a male who is at first standoffish but they really have a connection. If you like one you'll like the other.

Full Moon wo Sagashite

Full Moon wo Sagashite

Twelve year old Mitsuki's desire is to become a singer. She has the talent and a beautiful voice, but she also has a throat tumor which threatens to rob her of her gift of song. As if things weren't bad enough, two shinigami inform Mitsuki that she only has one year left to live. However, all is not lost, for they make a deal that if she goes with them, they will help realize her dream by changing her into a healthy 16-year-old, who is able to sing and apply for auditions.

Both Full Moon wo Sagashite and Skip Beat revolve around a similar setting - showbiz. While Full Moon revolves more around the musicbiz and Skip Beat focuses more on the acting side of the industry, they both revolve mostly around the production side of the industry.

While the characters are totally opposite in nature (Kyoko beeing consumed and driven by hatred, while Mitsuki is more like a friend to everyone), they are still quite similar. The main character in both series is a newbie on the showbiz world who doesn't quite know the tricks of the trade. Yet their untaintable hearts remain unaffected by the hardships of the industry. Both characters are what some might call Geniouses (Tensai) - fast learning, quickly evolving and vastly better than most.

whiteneko

Both anime deal with what it takes to get to the top in the entertainment industry: booking gigs, doing commercials, modeling, and learning to deal with your rivals, while holding on to your dream. Both have alot of romance thrown in and some comedy. While the ages, looks, and personalities of the two main characters are quite different, both give an inside look at showbiz from the ground up.

BangBangYarrDead

It's kinda the same thing :D Normal girl gets the chance to do auditions... She gets what she wants but something is in her way...

Lovely Complex

Lovely Complex

Lovely Complex is a story of a boy and a girl. The girl, Koizumi Risa, is much taller than the average Japanese girl; and the boy, Atsushi Otani, is much shorter than the average Japanese boy. Due to their immense difference in size and constant bickering with each other, the duo is unwillingly the school’s comic relief. As Risa and Otani continue to provide endless laughter for the masses, their friendship develops; and with that, so does Risa’s feelings for Otani...

Skip Beat and Lovely Complex both have the same type of over done humor that can't help but make you laugh. If you enjoyed Kyoko's hilarious emotions you will love the comedy of Lovely Complex.

Millem

They both are funny love stories you would really like, and there are a lot of emotional scenes too not only funny. This is the best combination for a love story.

sakura0angel

i also think their same in the love story..she only realized in the end of her love and her comedic character and funny way to solve her own problem
