Both Amagami SS and Shuffle! revolve around one boy being surrounded by several girls who have a (romantic) interest in them.
Both are a well-balanced mix of romance and funny moments, as well as really good music.
Shuffle however has it's share of fantasy (a litlle magic here and there) whereas Amagami SS does not.
Death and reincarnation are inescapable, but what happens in between? Without warning and without his memories, a boy who only recalls his last name - Otonashi - wakes up next to a girl named Yuri who offers him a gun and tells him to shoot an angel. Immortality is within reach, but if Otonashi remembers how he died, will he keep fighting or allow himself to vanish?
Both are a slice of life style anime that deal with real world concepts in a non-real world way. I found it easy to become emotionally invested in both animes, especially Angel Beats!, and this causes a connection to the show.
