Souma and his friends were typical high school students, and members of the student council; but things changed when a cat girl named Mao appeared in the school, looking for someone named Zero. Souma accidentally breaks Mao's mirror which causes her, Souma and his friends to be transported to her world. In this world, Souma and the other male humans from Earth can wield soulblades drawn from people's hearts. His friends landed in different parts of a war-torn world, so they have subsequently broken up into separate factions and each person is working towards winning the war. His friends have become each other's enemies, and it's up to Souma to be the one to create peace without choosing which friends should die.
While reading "The Universe of the Four Gods", best friends Miaka and Yui are mysteriously transported into a strange world full of magic and unfamiliar faces. As if their arrival was determined by fate, Miaka is revered as the Priestess of Suzaku, the savior of their warring country, who was destined to arrived in a flash of light, from a land far away. The story of both series is about the same. The main characters are transferred to fantasy world and are involved in the war between nations with their friends on enemy's side. As the story progresses, all characters begin to change and better ungerstand each other. If you liked Shining Teras x Wind, you should definitely check out Fushigi Yugi. Due to its lenght, Fushigi Yugi is much more developed and also more romantic and that is why I think that you will find it more interesting.
Fifty years ago, the Demon Stone and RAVE (two powerful artifacts) are broken and scattered throughout the world. The story follows the journey of Haru Glory; during his travels he meets many new friends and allies, and also enemies known as the Daemon Card. He will have to use the powers given to him by RAVE to defeat the Daemon Card and find the other pieces of RAVE.
Both main characters use various types of swords (protagonist from Shining Tears uses twice as many as Rave Master‘s, giving you a general idea) and go on a journey to save the world with some old and new friends. The two anime use girls as weapons and fantasy elements. Although the fighting is plentiful, the protagonist in Shining Tears x Wind has next to no experience in battle while the samurai lead in Samurai Girls is an expert at fighting alone; however, gradually they learn to battle with girls while becoming closer to them.

If you like Shining Tear X Wind than you should watch Pretear too! Their theme are pretty much the same! The theme is someone lending their power to fight the evil and saving the magical world. The only thing that is pretty much different is the gender and of course the storyline!

Looks like Claude's got bigger shoes to fill than his father's!
Shining Tears X Wind and Star Ocean EX are both based on RPG games. The main characters find themselves transported into another world, and must go on adventures to get rid of monsters that are attacking people, and make the world safe. The male leads are weak at first but they later improve considerably, as well.
