Shiba Inuko-San

Story 2/10
I'm honestly not sure how to grade this thing fairly. Shiba Inuko-San is a series of webisodes that clock in at just under the total length of two regular episodes of an anime. It's an attempt at a slice-of-life school comedy centred on a single outlandish element ("That character is actually a dog!"). As such, it throws any effort at having a concrete plot out the window before even trying, attempting instead to craft a single gag out of each episode. It fails miserably. If all you've got going for you is comedy, it had at least better be funny.

Visuals 4/10
For two episodes of anime the size of the budget is above average. For a self contained production it's utterly abysmal. Character designs are bland, except for the titular Shiba Inuko; backgrounds are bland; honestly, there's nothing that stands out as excellent or as atrocious. Except for the animation itself. It's terrible.

Sound 4/10
The OP is some kind of nonsense pitter-patter trying to describe superficial characteristics of the title character backed by a couple of synths. There is no music to speak of during episodes. The seiyuu are alright, except for the title character - she's actually fairly atrocious. The sound effects are rarely present and nothing groundbreaking when they do appear.

Characters 1/10
They're cardboard cutouts posing for the beat of every joke. There's not a single relevant thing I could tell you about any of them after having watched the series. It's a flop.

Overall 2.5/10
It's a good way to waste 40 minutes if you really have nothing better to do with your time. I can't recommend it for any other reason, really.
