Kazuki Shikimori is a 17-year old junior studying at Aoi Academy, an elite school for the magically gifted. However, unlike enrollment to the school would suggest, his magical prowess is below-average. In fact, he can only use magic eight times in his life, or he will die. But not all is lost: Kazuki's family tree includes the latent genetic material for magical greatness. After that information leaks out, Kazuki suddenly becomes the most popular male student in the school, and girls from powerful magician families begin chasing him to get his genes.
To start, both of these anime are great shows. Now, in both of these series there is a love interest. Surprisingly in both of them the girl loves the boy more so than the other way around--in the beginning. As time moves on the love becomes more two-sided.
Do you like powers and magic? Good, because in both of these series there is a male protagonist that is really powerful. Plus, the female in each series is headstrong. The only real difference is that in Shaman King the girl is also controlling, but in Maburaho the girl is just stubborn. So, 'huff....huff' if you liked one of these shows then you would probably like the other.
Long ago the infamous Gol D. Roger was the strongest and most powerful pirate on the seas. As he was about to be executed he revealed that he hid all of his wealth, including the legendary treasure known as One Piece, on an island at the end of the Grand Line - a treacherous and truly unpredictable sea. Monkey D. Luffy is a spirited, energetic and somewhat dim-witted young man with a very big dream: to find One Piece and become the Pirate King! However Luffy is no ordinary boy, as when he was younger he ate one of the Devil's Fruits and gained its power to become a Rubber Man. Now in this grand age of pirates Luffy sets out to gather a crew and sail to the most dangerous sea in the world so that he can fulfill his dream... and maybe even his appetite!
Thirteen years ago, the demon Kazan placed a curse on the continent of Arad, causing legions of demons to sprout from the earth. One young man named Baron also suffered its effects and is cursed with a demonic left arm. Baron now travels the land with Roxy, the spirit who resides in his sword, in the hopes of finding a cure. They are soon joined by self-proclaimed ‘Gunner of Love’ Capensis who literally falls from the sky; freakishly strong fist-fighter Ryunmei; and troublesome young mage Ixia. As they traverse a world of underground fight clubs and axe-wielding demons, will the party be able to find a way to remove the jinx on Baron’s arm, not to mention survive Ixia’s attempts at using magic?
Even tough they don’t have the same plot (like the tournaments in shaman K), they have a similar animation style and a similar humour. The magic and spirits also appear in both of them. They are meant for the same audience so if you liked one you will probably like the other.
In a bizarre fantasy world, students known as meisters are trained at the illustrious Shinigami Weapon Meister University; but the tools they wield are no ordinary weapons! Each meister is paired with a human-like being who can transform into a weapon at will; and after defeating a pre-kishin - a human whose soul has darkened - the weapon eats the soul within it. A meister's ultimate goal is to collect ninety-nine pre-kishin souls and one of a witch so that his or her partner will become an all-powerful Death Scythe. Maka and her partner Soul Eater; Assassin Black Star and his partner Demon Blade Tsubaki; and Shinigami's son Death the Kid and his partners the Demon Twin Pistol Thompson Sisters each vie for their ultimate goal, but plenty of challenges and adventures lie in their way!
Both series revolve around death, the spirit world and special humans with spirits as their weapons.
The relationship between a shaman/master and their spirit/weapon is very similar in both shows, and both have very good and high-passed fight scenes (even though the animation style is quite different).
