Synopsis:

When Sasami was very young she promised her parents that she wouldn't use her magical powers - though as a young girl, she sometimes does an innocent deed regardless. Sasami always has a positive attitude and likes making new friends such as the timid Misao, and loves to cook. However, when the Cooking Club's leader - the new teacher Ms. Washu - seems insistent on making the girls prove their worth, they soon discover that the club is just a front for the Magical Girls Club! It seems that Ms. Washu is actually here to make sure any magic-using girls use their powers responsibly. Along with Misao, Makoto, the rabbit-like Ryo-Ohki and other new friends, Sasami trains hard to be the best Magical Girl she can be!

K-On!

K-On!

It's the first day of high school, and plenty of school clubs are doing their best to recruit new members. However, for ditzy Yui, none of them seem to fit the bill. However, when she accidentally signs up to join the light music club, Yui begins a hilarious adventure to become a world class guitarist! There's just one problem: she's never played the guitar before in her life! Joined by bassist Mio, drummer Ritsu and keyboardist Tsugumi, Yui and the gang will juggle their studies with buying instruments, learning how to read music and even performing in the school festival, all in the hopes of someday becoming a successful band!

Sasami: Magical Girls Club and K-On! share quite a few similarities. In both shows, there's an after-school club that the characters participate in that brings them closer together; these after-school clubs are a source of learning, humor and chaos for the girls, and both shows follow the adventures of the main characters in their clubs. K-On! is about music and is more realistic while both seasons of Sasami: Magical Girls Club have fantasy elements to them, but both shows have cute girls building strong friendships with each other. If you liked the characters and their relationships in one show, I think you'll like the other!

Onegai My Melody

Onegai My Melody

The magical My Melody used to live a normal life in Mari Land, picking flowers and baking cookies for her friends and family - that is, until Kuromi and Baku escaped from the royal castle and fled to the human world! They took with them two magical treasures - the melody bow and the melody key - which, when used for evil purposes, can grant the user the ultimate Dark Power. Now, My Melody must travel to the human world to put a stop to Kurumi's evil plans to turn one hundred human dreams into nightmares. By her side is Uta, a human girl who is in love with the violin genius Hiiragi - a talented boy who unfortunately has decided to assist Kuromi in her devious plans...

Both are really terrible yet really cute mahou shoujo cartoons aimed at the prepubescent girl demographic with lots of shiny colors. If you can stomach one, you can stomach the other.
