Both Saikano and Windaria are good examples of the real drama genre. If you like anime that makes you cry then you must see these; you won't regret it.

Zaion ~i wish you were here~

Zaion ~i wish you were here~

In the present time, the meteorite-based M-34 virus is being spread at a horrific pace: infecting thousands, and mutating their bodies into alien-like creatures who destroy everyone in their path. While NOA -- an elite team of cybernetic soldiers -- work to contain the threat, a new weapon named Ai is being trained to destroy the virus once and for all. Unknown to all are her true powers -- especially once she falls in love with NOA member Yuji. Time is running out.. who will inherit the earth? The virus, or humanity?

When the one you hold close turns out to be a secret weapon what would you do? Would you still like to hold her close and be able to see her as a normal person? Just like Chise and Shuu are a couple ruined because of the girl being a secret weapon the couple in I wish is too. But unlike from Saikano, "I wish.." circulates more around the girl and a virus spreading in the world. And somtimes I whis feels abit more grown up than Saikano. But both are really good series. I wish is not as wicked as Saikano though you will actually get most part of it. But be sure to check it out... it's absolutely... a story of someone who wish you where there....
Temsik

The starting point is the same for both of the stories - she is the ultimate weapon. If I had to choose, I'd say Zaion is better - at least, it doesn't have that "let's get laid" attitude which drove me crazy in Saikano.

5 Centimeters per Second

5 Centimeters per Second
  • Movie (1 ep x 62 min)
  • 2007

Although today Tono Takaki and Shinohara Akari live far apart due to a family move shortly after elementary school, they were once two shy young students brought together by their shared differences from their peers. It is because of this that the two built a bond of closeness between them that still survives through their continued correspondence, even over such a distance. Secretly they both fear the loss of this bond over time, and for this reason they arrange a meeting between just the two of them. The journeys both of them take in their minds and in their lives create an atmosphere of intense emotional upheaval, but also a sense of peace. It is a twist of fate and a series of decisions that put the two in place to carry what they choose of their pasts into the future they will create for themselves.

both Byousoku 5 Centimeter and Saikano have the same sad, tragic, melancholic mood, both of them feature a impossible love relationship between main protagonists (in Saikano the love relationship is impossible because of a war that occures while in Byousoku 5 Centimeters the love is impossible because of the distance between the main protagonists). If you enjoyed the sadness, misery and melancholy in one of this show then be sure to check the other one as well.

They don't have a lot to do with each other. They both have a romantic side, other then that absolutely nothing. So why? That romantic side is so strong that both easily draw tears. Even the more resistant ones will have to put up a fight. Congratz to both, very enjoyable if you like the genre!

Air Movie

Air Movie
  • Movie (1 ep x 95 min)
  • 2005

Legend tells of a winged beauty who was so feared that she was confined to a palace, never to leave its gates alive. She lived a life of solitude until one day love entered her life; but as cruel fate would have it, the more the young woman loved, the closer she came to her death. For young Misuzu, researching the tragic tale of the winged one was only the beginning of her summer’s journey; a journey that would be filled with the discovery of love, the pain of loss, and the exploration of the human heart.

If you liked Saikano, you'll like the Air Moive as well and vice versa. The stories are both set around two characters in love with a tragic storyline. They are both heartwarming and heartbreaking. I literally cried during both...although Saiko is perhaps a bit more emotionally deep. While Saikano is a full on series, the Air Movie is a sort of recap of the Air series.
